Waitlist problem

I have a reservation for OKW for a 2 bedroom for Jan 4 thru Jan 9, but I wanted to change to a 1 bedroom since there are now only 4 of us going instead of 5 which were our original plans. I have been on the waitlist for the past month with no luck. I called on December 1 to check and still no luck and i was told i would be taken off the waitlist on my 31st. day befor arrival which would be Dec 3. I called Dec. 2 and Dec 3 and still no luck and on Dec 3 the person said I would be off the wait list at the end of the day. I wanted it this way because the point difference would be 30 points into a holding account which I did not want. So today Dec 4 I call to change some dining choices and I ask if I was taken off the waitlist and the lady said no do you want to be off. I said YES. I am worried. I was assured by 3 different people that I would be off and if I didn't call about dining and just ask if I was off the waitlist ,it could have come through and I would have had points in holding. Has this happened to anyone? Should I call again and make sure I am off?

Another option is to send an email asking for verification that your waitlist was canceled. You should get an email response to that from MS and thus have "proof" if something unwanted happens.
