Waitlist Probability?

Hello-

We have never used the waitlist before. DH's whole family had decided to go to WDW for Thanksgiving. We already have a 2BR booked for us November 22-29 at the BCV, but are contemplating booking a second 2 BR for some of DH's family.

I called MS yesterday, and they had 4 out of 7 nights in a dedicated 2 BR and 5 out of 7 for a lockoff at the BCV.

My question is, if I booked what is available now, and waitlisted for the rest, do you think the waitlist is likely to come through?

If not, do you think OKW would have availability at 7 months?

I am leery to book if there is not a likelihood because we will have to borrow points for the reservation.

I appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks!

Tara

Make sure the family members understand that they cannot back out at the last minute. Otherwise you would be left with borrowed points that would have to be used before the end of your use year. Charge them to use the points or get them to make their own reservations.

Don't worry - if we end up booking them a room, the room won't be free, and the amount charged won't be refundable. : )

I just want to know the probability of being able to get that full week somewhere by the end of the 7 month window because I don't want to leave them hanging til the last minute either.

If it were me, after the relatives have "paid up" :), I'd book what I could at BCV and waitlist for the missing days (on an individual basis). IMHO, the lock off 2 bedroom has the best chance of coming through and I think there is a pretty good chance of that happening if you can get on the waitlist soon.

If the waitlist doesn't work out before the 7 month mark arrives, at 7 months I'd cancel the days I had at the BCV and book the relatives' 2 bedroom where ever I could (I suspect both OKW & SSR 2 bedrooms will be available then. I'm not into moving or taking much risk, LOL). Then I'd waitlist for their whole vacation to come through at once at the BCV, assuming you'd prefer to have them at the same resort.

Good luck!
