I was reading thru some other threads (about the new 2010 points charts) and saw a few mentions of the new waitlist policy. I don't know too much about waitlisting as we only used the old waitlist one time for just one night. How is the new wait list policy different than the old one?

Effective Feb. 1, 2009, Members may have a maximum of two active wait-list requests per Membership, per use year.

So does that mean for 2 different vacations (like a week here, week there) or 2 different choices for the same vacation? And is there a limit to the number of days?

I agree....I don't know what they mean by 2 active waitlists. Is that by room category? So if I'm on a waitlist for BWV standard and preferred....is that all I'm allowed to have. Or does it mean I can have every studio as a waitlist for a May trip...and that counts as 1. Then I can have another for a Dec trip? Anyone know for sure?

By the example it indicates that you can only have 2 waitlists at a time (good thing I have my 3 or 5 in place now). I need to ask the question if say you want any 2br at BCV is that 1 wait list or 3 wait lists since there are 3 separate categories.

Basically no waiting for BVC, BWV or VWL at the same time since that would be 3 or maybe 6 or more depending on how they define a waitlist.

While DVC has done many questionable things in the past couple of year this one is just plain stupid.

What do they think is going to happen, members are just going to call all the time for the ones that are not on their waitlists (until they limit the number of times you can call per year) and rooms that might otherwise get filled are going to go empty they by reducing occupancy. I do not use the “s” word very often but this is just plain “s”tupid and is a further indication of DVC’s management’s marginal competency and that they have no focus in what is in the best interest of the majority of members.

With all of the buzz regarding the points reallocation, the new wait list policy seems to have gone relatively unnoticed. The few posts I have seen so far are from members who contacted MS, and oddly enough, seemed to receive conflicting information. So MS isn't up to speed on this yet, it appears.

As others have pointed out, it would be extremely beneficial if DVC would simply post their current definition of a wait list. Is an active wait list good for an entire reservation? For instance, a member has Sunday & Monday reserved, wait listed for Tuesday, has Wednesday reserved and is wait listed for Thursday. Do the 2 non-consecutive wait listed days count as 2 active wait lists or one? The questions regarding categories should be answered as well.

With only a few days until the new rules go into affect, hopefully DVC will soon post additional information on the web site to clarify rather than leave it to individual MS reps to apply their interpretations of the policy.
