Waitlist mistake

We called to add nights to our stay at VGC in October. We were surprised to find availability when there hadn't been previously. While we were on the line DH asked if there was a 1br available for the days we had booked a 2br (and waitlisted for a 1br.) It was available! Yay! But why hadn't our waitlist come through? The CM couldn't answer that. :confused3

Now I'll always be paranoid that I need to check any future waitlists frequently.
 
This has been noticed and discussed recently.

Happened to me at VGC TWICE for a trip in July where I just booked a couple of months ago online but members here posted they had those dates waitlisted and didn't get them.

The theory seems to be as soon as a cancellation is made, the rooms show up as available online and on what the MS CMs can see. BUT the wait lists are only run against available rooms maybe once or twice a day, so if you call MS or are online between when the rooms are cancelled and the wait list compared to it, you can snatch it up.
 
The waitlist process has problems. I have discussed this with DVC Management and to date I can't seem to get a straight answer.

Or, really don't want to worry you but to share, it may be what happened to me in Dec. MS found availability for me at VGC when there hadn't been any. Turns out there was a glitch in the system and no room was actually available. Hope your reservation is "real". :thumbsup2
 

It happens all the time. If you have a waitlist call frequently or check online for matches. We have found our own matches and booked them twice in the last year.
