Waitlist for THV - what are the chances?

I am an SSR owner who just tried to book THV (8/18/12-8/24/12) at about 2 weeks past the 11 month window (I wasn't thinking about dates and forgot to call!) Right now we're in a 2BR SSR villa waitlisted for a THV. What do you think the chances are? Every waitlist I've ever had has come through, but because there aren't many THVs, I'm not sure whether the likelihood can be compared. Thoughts?

I think your chances are pretty good, considering the time of year, and the fact that people change resorts at 7 months. Last year we stayed in a THV in early August that we basically snagged at 7 months. (We w/l for a couple days.) Good luck!

A couple of day ago DVD declared 12 more Treehouse Villas for a total of 60 villas now available to the DVC so I would think that your chances are pretty good.

MS told me that there was availability on either end of our stay; only two nights mid-week were unavailable. I was encouraged to hear that - and now even more so after hearing of your experiences!

I waitlisted at 7 months for a THV for 3 nights over the Halloween weekend, and the waitlist came through in about 3 weeks.

I called about 10 months out for a THV for June 2012. Everything was available except for 6/3. I booked the THV for all the available nights and booked a two bedroom lock-off for 6/3 and waitlisted for the one night. My waitlist came through this week! I called the CM and they changed the whole ressie into one reservation number so I can do online check in, etc. If I were you I would book the available nights in the THV and waitlist the other two nights as the chances of those two nights becoming available is good. here's some pixiedust!

At the 7-month window, I booked a trip to THV for Spring Break (March) 2012. I booked all the nights that were available, and wait listed the 2 nights that were not available (2 separate nights, so 2 separate wait lists). Both wait lists came through within a week.

Like Irishmom23, I would suggest that you go ahead and book the nights available now, and only wait list the 2 nights mid-week. There is a much higher chance to have 2 nights opening up than all 6 nights opening up at the same time.

For my trip, I actually paid member cash price while wait listing for those 2 nights so I had peace of mind. When the wait lists came through, they automatically swapped for my cash nights and refunded my credit card.

Don't give up hope. We booked a THV at the 11 month window and wound up switching it out for something else. There may be other SSR owners who do the same thing!

Hi. I just wanted to ask about your screen name. My dd is applying ED at Muhlenberg College end of or next week and wanted to know if you attended or have someone that does. She (we all) loved the school. Last week was her 3rd visit.

I have a ressie for a THV that I made at 11 months out. I too plan to switch it at 7 months. I bet that quite a few do that. We figured if we had a 2BR ressie at SSR we were holding why not get a treehouse for the same number of points. That way we still have something we want if our other choices are not available.
