Waitlist Confidence Restored

Recently had 2 waitlist occasions. The first one, I found availability stalking the website before the waitlist. I was even shocked myself because a few minutes before, there was no availability and then suddenly something showed up. The second one just came through the waitlist automatically some minutes ago despite me having been stalking everyday. So yes, waitlists do work, but stalking helps too

I just had a BWV 1 bed standard come through for 1 night the first weekend in Dec. I had to use the waitlist over stalking since I need to borrow points on a resale contract. I put it in a week ago and it's already come through and been processed by a CM. I was able to put a request through chat to merge it with the other nights.

I know I posted earlier in the thread about our TWO gardenview studio waitlists being filled, but I needed to add a night on the front end (flights were $$$ less arriving a day earlier) and have been stalking multiple times a day for the last couple of weeks.

We had Copper Creek studio booked as a back up BUT yesterday when I was logging in to do my usual stalking, my waitlist had been filled!!!

I emailed member services to merge the two into one continuous reservation.

I was fine staying at CCV because we love the resort, but I really didn't relish the thought of moving rooms.

btw, I did not receive any communication that the waitlist had been filled (no call, email etc.)

Stalking still helps. I had 2 open waitlists within the last week that I filled with stalking (not waitlist). They were both 1 night WL's. I was picking up walker droppings just after the 11 month window for a AKV 1BR value and a BWV STD Studio. I was never able to win the 8am 11 month speed contest, but I was able to eventually get all the nights I wanted after the walkers advanced their reservations and dropped nights. The WL never filled, but between 8:30 and 10 AM, the night became available.

Waitlist filled in less than 8 hours!

This morning at 8am, 11months out, there was no availability for AKV club level studio or value 1BR. I was able to grab the 1BR value for 3 days earlier - apparently, someone is walking their reservation. Put in a waitlist for the DS Club level on a whim as it’s pretty much booked up 11 months out.

I was shocked when we got a call from Member Services to fill the DS Club Level on the same day I made the waitlist! While we are still debating studio queen bed vs. 1BR king bed, I figured I have a better shot in a few days of picking up the 1BR value for the end of our trip then the club level studio. Never having stayed in club level before, I couldn’t really pass it up could I??

I just received an email with my confirmation number for the night I needed. I then chatted with MS to have it merged and that came in 4 days later.

I was surprised with the phone call too. But I had picked up the 1BR value for the same dates. I never imagined the waitlist would fill so quickly and had not selected the “replace existing reservation“ since I had intended on moving the 1BR value in a few days to free up the waitlisted days.

Just came to add that I put in for an extra night at BWV for Gardenview for my second waitlist and just got an email that it was filled! I now have TWO BWV gardenview studios reserved for 6 nights. I am so glad my daughter will not have to change rooms (from Dolphin) for the first night.

btw, we own @ AKV but LOVE the Epcot resorts also

Waitlist success for a one nighter at the front of my trip in an AKL Club studio.

I thought those were hard to get so I’ve never attempted but this was my first time waitlisting AKL club, came through in ab a month, right before the 30 day mark.

May try that again in the future

I need a single night in a standard view Poly studio to complete my reservation at the end of November. I've got a waitlist in, but keep checking the site, too. I'll be sad if I have to move from the Poly to an all-star for the final night!

So, on my previous three waitlists, I always found availability before the waitlists came through. On my current 3-day old waitlist, I'd been checking availability multiple times a day, including 8pm tonight, and I then got the successful waitlist email at 8:30pm.

I guess I can't criticize anymore.

I have no faith in the wait list, been on one for over a month and went online this morning and grabbed a "missing" one night AKL 2 bedroom value to complete my 8 day/7 night trip.

The system doesn’t always grab them if you happen to catch a cancellation pretty quickly after someone has canceled but before the system gets it.

The other problem is that you can have a waitlist that matched but hasn’t yet processed by a CM and the system doesn’t show that in anyway.

I have had that happen to me. I snagged a room on my own only to find out that I did indeed have a match as well.

It’s the one change I’d like to see them do so if it is there, change it to pending.

But, until then, stalking is the way to go while you wait!

I went right from looking at this thread to my mailbox, and could hardly believe it! A one bedroom waitlist for December 10-12 at BLT came through! Wow!

I checked it out this afternoon by searching and nothing was available!

I just got a 1 night waitlist for Bwv standard studio. It’s for next week. I added a day to my 3 night stay. I had okw before moving to Bwv standard studio, figured it couldn’t hurt. It was my last night of my 7 day w/l end. Only 3 hours until the w/l ended. Getting ready to head to bed and checked and my okw reservation was gone and I had 12 points in holding. Got out of my account as something was going on. Checked later and it went through just hours before ending. This is the third time my waitlist has gone through over the past few months. I only do one night waitlist, but always the toughest choice (Bwv standard studio), generally adding a day prior to the start. The w/l is working better than it was in the past.
