Waitlist/Borrow Points

I am not sure I quite understand the waitlist/Borrow Points... etc

We bought a contract with no current use year points so we are going to borrow and waitlist our desired stay. *if* the waitlist does not go through... do the points go back to the year we borrowed from or are they now in this year and must be used.

Points are not borrowed unless the wait list actually comes through.
