Waitlist and Confirmation Number

If my waitlist comes through will I get a new confirmation number?
How about when I add the dining plan, will that change my confirmation number.
I have my reservation linked to MDE will I need to re-link it?

Waitlist coming through: very likely you'll get a new number.
Adding a dining plan: very unlikely you'll get a new number.
MDE: Only need to redo if you get a new number.

my waitlist came through today and I did receive a new reservation #...perhaps because it used less points?
