We are currently on a waitlist for a studio in August for a few nights. Am I allowed to waitlist for a 1 bedroom at the same place for the same dates just so more chance I'll get one or the other? Or is that not allowed? I'm a new member so just not sure how it all works. thanks! :)

You are permitted two concurrent waitlists. Yes, by all means -- increase your chances by using both for different unit types (or different resorts) over the same dates! Good luck, hope you get your WL!

Absolutely! You can have up to two waitlists at a time so you can waitlist for a studio and a 1BR. Remember that a waitlist must become fully available in order for it to fill. This means that if you need 7 nights and, say nights 1, 3 and 5 are available, your only option is to waitlist the entire week. This is because you cannot waitlist the nights individually due to the 2-waitlist limit. However, if you waitlist the entire week, they do not hold nights 1, 3 and 5 until the others become available. So someone could snag up the available nights before your waitlist fills. This is why most people suggest that you book what is available and waitlist only those nights that are NOT available, subject to the 2-waitlist maximum. Another option is to break your stay into parts, having 2 waitlists of 3 nights and 4 nights, instead of a full 7 nights.

Another thing to remember, watch your banking deadline and waitlist expiration. If you have a studio booked and a 1BR waitlisted, and the reservation is in your current UY, but AFTER your banking deadline, be careful. At your banking deadline, you will have two options: bank the points that are not tied up in the studio reservation, OR don't bank them and risk losing them if the 1BR waitlist does not fill. But remember, if you BANK them and the 1BR waitlist DOES fill, they will borrow points from your next UY...NOT the ones you just banked. This could have an impact on your future plans.

Thanks so much for all this helpful info!!! So if we only want say, 5 nights, is it better to just waitlist 5 nights.. not the whole week as more chance it will fill? We are hoping to go late August, and I believe the banking deadline for my current (feb) use year is Sep. 30th. So i would be good right??? Obviously I'll know if the waitlist came through for us to go in August, by the time i have to bank the points in September... I'm hoping for Hilton Head which doesn't sound like it will come through as I'm reading not many studios or 1 bedrooms there, esp in the summer!!!

You would only waitlist for the stay that you want, not for any additional nights.

Hilton Head has 21 studios and 21 1BR's, along with 76 dedicated 2BR's and 5 grand villas. Your odds are better for a 2BR...but small for anything in the summer.

Can you set up 2 waitlists, so that:
1. if one waitlist comes through, then the second one will be cancelled?
2. if the first comes through and is reserved, then if second one comes through, it will cancel the first reservation?
3. you have 2 waitlists, but prioritized so that one is preferred, in case both waitlists become available at the same time?

Also, if you reserve what's available and waitlist only those nights that are NOT available, when the waitlists come through, will they automatically combine all dates into one reservation?

If you set up waitlists for the same time and one fills the other will be cancelled. You would then have to set it up again if you wished preferred to get the other room type. There is no way to prioritize one over the other so it would be whatever rules are established under the system to grab first if somehow they both became available at the same time. Sometimes the CM will combine nights together if you have some of the nights and waitlist the others but if they don't it's easy to call in to have it done.
