Waiting to plan our first DVC vacation and going crazy!

The documents on our resale DVC finally closed and now we just need to wait for Disney to put us in the system. We were told this would take about 2 weeks and since Thanksgiving is next week, I'm sure that it will certainly take 2 weeks (or more!). So I'm trying to psyche myself up for an 8 night stay at SSR which (in theory) seems to be my least favorite resort. Granted, I have never stayed there, and the only DVC we have stayed at was the BWV studio for one night which was great (due to location rather than actually accommodations which were fine). But since I've read that DVC releases all unreserved rooms to CRO at the 60 day time frame, I have all but given up hope that we will be able to stay at BCV (home resort), BWV or VWL. Or even OKW since I've heard that they are already booked up for last week Jan 2007-first week Feb 2007.
Those of you who stay at SSR, could you help me get excited about staying there? What do you love about it? All I can think about is how "undisney" it will be. It just seems like an upscale suite resort than a real DVC property. Tell me why I am wrong!!! I am very ill informed if you can't tell!
Is it true that DVC releases all rooms to CRO at the 60 day point?
Also, Is there anyone else out there in the same situation? Just purchased a resale and waiting to make ressies for the very near future????

I'm sure you will enjoy SSR quite a bit. Every DVC resort has its own charm and allure, and you'll certainly find a lot to like about SSR if you go there with an open mind.

Want to get excited about SSR? There have been many threads here extolling the virtues of this resort. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find them!
