We just passed ROFR yesterday on a SSR resale and should be closing on 10/25. We are going to Disney in mid-January and would like to be able to stay at one of the DVC resorts. In order for this to happen, I will need to borrow points from DEC09 and buy points to be transferred into my account to cover the week. My UY is Dec. So my questions are:

1. How long does it typically take to get in Disney's system so that I can have points transferred in and make a reservation?

2. How long does it typically take for the transfer of points to occur once the selling member makes the call to Disney (is it immediate or does it take time to be processed?)

Thanks in advance for any information. I want to get it all figured out ahead of time so I can move on it as soon as possible. I'm already concerned that I might have trouble getting a room at one of the more popular resorts on such short notice.

After closing typically takes 5 - 10 days to be put " in the system ". On our resale it took under 1 week for our points to be in. With economy slowed down, maybe less sales are happening, very well could take less time.

A point transfer between members is virtually immediate - we received a points transfer in June and called within an hour, points were in our account. Also, many members do a points transfer via a 3 way call with Member Services.

As for January reservation, I never say never, but since that time is drawing near and it is also less than 7 months away there could be some obstacles getting DVC resort you may want & days you want. Check DVC Resort Reservation Availability board where members are posting info based on their inquiries with MS; you may find it helpful to get a better idea of what's out there for January.

Best wishes & congrats on your DVC membership :woohoo:

Thanks for the info. Glad to hear it happens so quickly. I was surprised the ROFR only took 1 week, especially with the Labor Day holiday.

Everything has been ahead of schedule on our purchase. You might be pleasantly surprised too. Here's wishing you the best that things fly through and you get the room you want.

Just thought of something ; you may want to look into a PayPal account if you don't already have one - it seems many members who list points on the rent/trade board can receive payment via PayPal. It is definitely quicker than sending a check through the mail & the member waiting for it to clear, etc. before finalizing transaction.

That's a good idea. I do have a Paypal account but I need to see what their transaction fee is first. I only need 40-62 points so it shouldn't cost too much. Thanks again for the tip!
