Waiting room for room only discount 3-30 5-21

To those of you waiting, I couldn't wait any longer... here's what I just did tell me if it makes sense...

I called disney and asked about AP discounts on the rooms. Our dates are May 6th - 14th I really wanted to stay at AKL but didn't want to pay the crazy rack rate. The AP discounted rate was 164 for a standard room. I booked it!
The total with tax is 1476. The AAA total with tax is 2248. That's a $772 savings! The adult AP costs 477.12 instead of 276.91 for a 5 day ph that's a 200.21 difference. I am still saving $572!!! You can now add dining to the ap room only reservation too. I didn't need that since we are also doing universal and sea world. With the ap you also get discounts on food at the parks. I hope I am thinking this right and not wasting my money.

What do you guys think? Do you think a discount code will be better than this? That would be even better!!!

I am so excited about this trip!!!

I had thought about getting a AAA membership because I know there are discounts, but I never got around to it before I booked (partly because I changed my reservations so many times!) Anyway, now that my room is booked and first night paid for, can I sign up for AAA and call Disney back and get the discount? I'm just thinking of ways I can save a dime, just in case the codes don't come.....does anyone have the answer to this? I'm sure you do, because I've never seen so many Disney experts!!! I love it!

No! This is a way better rate than the FL resident one that I had previously booked for the Coronado (159 a night)....

Thank you for the heads up...I changed my ressie and I'll also be at the AKL (164 a night) 5/9-5/11.

Hi everyone -- I'm in on this waiting game. We are booked at the Poly for April 18-23. The upgraded water park and park hopper tickets didn't interest us because we aren't going to the water park. We have never stayed at the Poly as a family and really want to enjoy the pool there. It would be great to get some type of discount but, if not, we are going anyway. Enjoy the wait!

I booked a week at the WL this afternoon using the AP. I got a rate of only $219 per day (for week days) instead of the rack rate of over $300. I'll have to buy the AP, but it's only about $200 more than the park hopper. This saves hundreds of dollars. Our week is May 8-15. Do the math. It works!
The room is Courtyard view and I requested Inner Courtyard specifically. You learn a lot from reading these threads. I'm a newbie and I even knew that I should request the Inner Courtyard view. Life is good.

I am surprised the WL is more than AKL aren't they usually the same price?
I have never stayed there but I hear it's very nice. There is a hotel in Wisconsin that has an indoor waterpark that we go to alot that has the same style as WL so we never think to stay there.

It seems like a lot of us have the same idea to go to wdw for mother's day week/weekend. See you all there! I hope it's not too crowded? Anyone been at this time before?

I'm glad that my fellow disers have joined me in the waiting game.Wouldn't it be nice to get a room discount this wk.:cool1: My guess is that when its released it will be similar to the AP/FL room discount.I'll be on the lookout:surfweb:

I'm waiting! Thanks for the March 8 info about last year. That helps. I couldn't remember when I booked.

The more expensive your resort, the more you save.:wizard:
Some resorts have a flat dollar discount, at least for the AP rate, so you need to be careful. We're staying at the Poly. and the discount was a flat $91 off per night regardless of whether you stay gardenview, lagoonview, gardenview concierge, or lagoonview concierge. Huge price difference between the lowest and highest, but still $91/night off, so we booked gardenview non-concierge (which is the least expensive, and just fine with us!).

I was referring to the public room only discount code, that the poster I quoted was referring too. :goodvibes

Nothing yet today! I was hoping because today is Wendsday(they tend to release on Wendsdays)that there will be something I'll keep a look out though:surfweb:

Just hung up with a cm. Asked if there happened to be a room only code released to the general public today. He acted like I was crazy for calling and asking a question like that. He told me no. I guess they must be getting floods of discount calls. Oh well, I keep my eyes open.

Well it looks like disney visa has came out with a room discount for moderates and OKW/SSR for dates of March 30-April 12th. The dates don't help me because we leave on the 30th of april but maybe it will help one of my fellow disers out.The rates were 129$ and 204$.
I'll Still keep on the lookout for so more room only discounts:surfweb:
I think that I have accepted that I'm going to have to pay full rack rate for my stay at a value resort.Hey on the bright side we spend 99% of our time at the parks. Speaking of parks I'm a little nervous about crowd levels:scared1:

They keep getting closer to what we are hoping for. Looking for room only discount for 5/6-5/11 for a mod. APs are out of our price range

did you try the AAA discount? I've got AS Mu for 4/30 & 5/1 @ $86.40/night all in! Depending on how many nights you'll be using their lodging, it may pay to join AAA if you don't already have it!

I just had a light bulb go off :magnify:

I saw the note about Disney Visa offering a new code for mods and OKW in late Mar/early April. Well, I believe everyone that has a package MUST BE locked into their prices by now for that time period. So that means any new offers that come out would ONLY be available to those that have room only reservations or NEW BOOKINGS. Does that make sense?

So, that makes me ponder... :teacher: maybe I should flip my ressie at AKL from a "package" to a room only at this point and wait untilt he last minute to add back the ticket (it's only a one-day tix so I don't care if I lose this; I have enough tix for this trip anyway) and add back the DDP (worse case scenario we'll be eating at less upscale places).

what are your thoughts on my light bulb AND my pondering?
