Waiting room for room only discount 3-30 5-21

I just changed my reservation to use the AP discount. I was going to buy a 7 day hopper anyway, but for AKL standard view, I'm saving over $650 on the room using the AP discount, so I'll spend the extra $200 on the AP. Still winds up being a few hundred dollars cheaper. Of course if a general public discount comes out I may change it again - depends on the price difference.

Although the DDE card and discounts with the AP may make it worth it regardless. We're only getting 1 AP - I'll still get my husband and son regular 7 day hoppers. We never go to waterparks so the tkt upgrade didn't do much for us either.

Im gonna keep hoping they have a room only..... we want to add some days to our May trip (which is offiste and do a little Disney too). Hoping for some :tinker:

Well guys my best guess is that there will be no general public discounts except for the free ticket upgrade. Now lets hope that the parks won't be crowded.

I just priced my AKL stay - room rate is $184/night - it was $164 w/the AP, but now I don't have to buy the AP - total out of pocket is about the same, but there are some other discounts that come with the AP, so I may stay as is.

I too did the ap with AKL I havn't bought the ap yet I was waiting. What do you guys think????
What are the other discounts with AP that are worth it?

One big difference is that with the AP rate, you could still add dining if you want to - the other code is room only so you may not be able to.

Also, the discounts are listed here

http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-ap.htm

We're doing Pirate and Princess, and they offer a discount for that which would save me about $15. Also, we may want to add a water park for 1 day, (not the most cost effective thing, I know), but I think I'd save about $10 there. Plus there are some dining discounts and other little things, that when added together, may still make it worth it.
I'm still on the fence about DDE vs DDP too...

I just called to get a quote with the new code and the price versus the AP price is 1656 versus 1476 the AP is 477 and the 5day ph that I would need is 276 so I am going to save about $111. I won't need dining and I am not going to be eating at any of the restaurants that have the AP discount for lunch. I do have AAA card that I can use to get 10% off shopping. So I think I did the right thing. I hope anyway.

Had just about given up hope that a general public room-only code would be out, and am SO happy to write that I just got off the phone with WDW reservations and was able to change our AP room-only reservation to the new CMB rate. No hardsell to buy the mealplan, either.

For those of you thinking it's the same as AAA, at least for the Poly in May, it is BETTER. If fact, it is the same as the AP rate, so that just saved me having to buy an AP and we weren't going to do DDE so no loss at all (I'll get my ticket now from undercover and DH and kids already have theirs).

Rack rate: $399/night + tax
AAA rate: $359.10/night + tax
AP rate: $308/night + tax
CMB rate: $308/night + tax -- No price difference for Sun-Thur. vs. Fri.

I just called to see if the CMB code would work for my stay. Sadly, no discounts for the Poly from April 27 - May 2.

Thanks everyone who has posted here. I never started a post that got almost 100 replies. Only 9 more to go.
I hope that some of my fellow disers were able to use the codes. I wasn't do to the 100$ fee they have since I already booked a package and I'm past my 45 day mark. I was worried that the parks/resorts was going to be crowded since they didn't release any GPublic discounts for rooms. Now if my package shows up with my vouchers and luggage tags I'll be set.

I have a package at the Poly that was fully paid (within the 45 day mark). I was able to call this morning and apply the code and saved BIG!

I don't think you have to pay the fee. If so, the CM did not mention it to me.

Just called CRO and they said if your package price stays the same or cost more with the discount you don't get charged a fee BUT if you package goes down in price than you pay 50$ not 100$ like I was quoted ealier. Did your price go up or down when you added the code?

The total price went down by over $400. It was for 4 nights at the Poly with the dining package. She did not mention any costs or any details for that matter - only the total savings. I already received an email with my new invoice.

Well perhaps you DID pay the $50 change fee (I know that AAA charges this; it's in their contract). It may be that your savings more than offset the cost of the change (i.e., you would have saved $500 for 2 ppl if their wasn't a change fee but you only saved $400 because of the $50pp change fee)???

I'm locked in too because of a package and am doubtful my rate will go down but will be calling in the morning... that is if anything is left. :lmao:

Good luck to everyone else!

No discount for my Poly stay either. I was on the phone forever yesterday. My internet was down yesterday morning so I did not know there was a discount until 2 yesterday. I have checked the website every morning for the last three weeks and wouldn't you know it would come out when my internet was down. They did have a theme park view room only discount, but we couldn't use it because we are using the dining plan. She said we could not use the dining plan on a room only code. It had to be a package code. It seems like they would want us to spend more money, whatever. We have now moved to WL. We are glad to have a discount.

Called today (Friday) - no luck using ANY of the 4 codes (room only or w/dining plans)...

no luck for any category rooms at AS resorts 4/30-5/2

no luck for any category rooms at AKL 5/2 - 5/6

no luck for any category rooms at POR 5/3 - 5/6

they did say if we wanted to move to CARIBBEAN BEACH RESORT - they had availability today. You know... the one WITHOUT AN OPERATIONAL POOL RIGHT NOW?! for what it's worth, we can all say we gave it our best college try! :confused3

And so it goes!

I did find room for you online(WDW site with discount) at all 3 of the all stars for 4/30th - 5-2 or for 4-30 - 5-6
No luck for AKL or POR/POFQ
They did have CBR open. I called first thing yeterday morning for my dates which are very similar to yours 4-30 till May 11th and all they only had CBR open for mods.So we just kept our ressies at Sports.Come join us overthere.
I have stayed at CBR 12 yrs ago in 1996 it was almost new then and it was nice but it it HUGE to say the least. The beach was nice it is has a very tropical theme to it. The beds are the same size as the all stars so DH thought we should just save the money. All star sports was just remodeld a few mths ago and my DSIL stayed there and said that it was nice. Everything was brand new including the matteress:cool1: plus its the first bus stop and they said that made a huge difference they always had a seat.
We did get to stay in a 1 bdroom at OKW for 2 wk in September so going back to a small value resort is going to be tough. hope you find a room with the discount.

I have booked a standar view room at the AKL with the CMB code for 185 a nigth YEEEES :cool1: :cool1: from MAY 16 to MAY18 thank youu:yay: :yay:
