Waiting List for Thanksgiving

I am presently on the waiting list at all WDW DVC Resorts for the week of Thanksgiving. My question is two fold:

1 - Has anyone recently been moved off the waiting list into reservation status? 9I am wondering whether there is any activity.)

2 - Is there any ability or mechanism to swap points with someone who may have a reservation already but may not want to go.

As time ticks away, I will soon be forced to book a regular resort and make a committment to use my points that way. Now that we have stayed at a DVC resort, my DW refuses to ever go to another regular hotel room again. Any suggestions?

Thanks:cool:

About 2 weeks ago, I got a studio at BCV that I'd been wait listed for for a couple of months. I only wait-listed for there and BWV, not any of the 4.

Have you called to just check availability yourself? You might be able to book a few of the nights on your own, I wouldn't rely on the waitlist alone, I tried that a few weeks ago, called out of curiousity & got the night I needed!! So, I'd give at least a call to check availability...

Believe me I can feel your pain. We've had our home resort of Hilton Head booked since the 11 month window for Thanksgiving week but in late June I came up with the bright idea to spend some of the days over Thanksgiving at Disney. Being a new DVC member, I've never waitlisted before and did as you have done - got on the waitlist for all our days. I read advice on this board that I should waitlist day by day. At first I thought that was risky. What I did though was maintain my current HH reservation and double booked the OKW days as they become available. I figured OKW is the largest resort and would more than likely have availability before the others and my gamble did pay off.

Waitlisting day by day really made a difference coupled with periodically calling Member Services and that is what seemed to begin to move me off the waitlist. A very nice Member Service rep put me on hold and came back in a few minutes with 2 of the 4 nights I needed (I don't know where he pulled them from) and I was only left waitlisting 2 nights (including Thanksgiving night). The very same day we got a call that the third night came through so I was only left agonizing over T-day. Finally, finally, two Fridays ago we got Thanksgiving night!

I told my long saga because the waitlist coupled with calling periodically can work. I was so frustrated at one point that I thought about using our points for the Grand Floridian or Poly but I am glad I held in there. I would have been more concerned about this trip if we had plane tickets and no back up reservation but with a week booked at Hilton Head and driving, I was a bit more relaxed about this trip. I have learned one valuable lesson and that's plan plan plan (early as possible) for these DVC trips especially if they fall over a holiday period. I hope my story was helpful to you and I hope you get the nights you need!

I'm kind of in the same "boat". I've been waitlisted for a studio at the BCV for Nov. 27-Dec. 2 since the end of June. I decided to go ahead and book a room at the BC (this area was the only one I was interested in). In the meantime I have gotten a rate quote for the YC for $179/night (tax included), so I went ahead and booked that room and cancelled the BC room at $272.67/night.

I'm still on the waitlist for the BCV, but will have to make a decision by the end of this month to be able to bank 100% of the points I have remaining for the year. I'm to the point where, although I would love to have a studio instead of a "REGULAR" room:o (one DVC trip, and I'm already spoiled!!!), I would probably come out better paying the cash for the room and saving those points to put towards my two-week trip next June.

With 3 children, the extra room is really great for those long trips!

I was just called for a waitlisted OKW studio for December 8 but turned it down since I'm going to spend that night at the Wilderness Lodge (not the villas) for cash.

Thanks for your replies. I will follow up with DVC and try to waitlist one night at a time. But, I'm thinking I need to get some room booked in the next couple weeks. (I already have plane tickets for 4.)

BraveMom3,
I have 2 Studio's at BCV from 11/25 to 12/03. I am waitlisted
but for a 2 bedroom for the same period to make the switch. Like you I sure would like to hear something. The studios were received within 2 week but it has been since May and have not heard a word about the upgrade to the 2 bedroom.
Good luck on your quest, and keep your fingers crossed for me since you may be getting one of my studios.

I have been on the waitlist for nov28 since the 7 mth window,i was able to get all the other nights at bcv.I too feel your pain!
