Waiting for SWA to open its Dec/Jan fares thread!

I am not positive but am pretty sure, that the least expensive fares you were hoping for this morning were not in fact sold out by the time you checked your computer. SWA shows some flights on busier peak dates as being sold out when in fact they are simply not making them available since they know they can get higher fares for these dates/flights.

Example: I went to book DH MCO-BUF for Dec 31 and already MANY flights were showing unavailable. I booked the least expensive fare still available and will hope for a DING fare to get a better price.

I would really appreciate any others opinions on this (SWA showing unavailable on peak flights/dates).
Thank you
Suzy V.

ARGH! Once again SW is jacking with me...I needed Jan. 12, and of course....

But I'm really not that worried. I checked for the first leg of my flight, and these rates aren't that good. I can fly out with American for cheaper then that (never thought I would hear myself say that :) ) I'll just wait to see what Ding or a sale brings.

Bout time they opened up......Thought we might have to stay in FL until the rest of Dec opened up.

We booked our fares down three weeks ago....I booked our return flights today. :cheer2:

goofyforlife, we'll probably be there the same time! Booked 12/9 a few weeks ago, and return 12/14 today. Don't think I'll get any deals on the 12/9 - those friday night flights seem to sell out the cheap fares, but I'll keep watching for a Ding or better special for 12/14. Pd $69, would like to pay less (Spoiled, aren't we!)

I would really appreciate any others opinions on this (SWA showing unavailable on peak flights/dates).
riu gril,
I agree with you. I think unavailable means just that - unavailable - not necessarily sold out - I think they chose to not offer those fares for that time period in hopes they fill up the plane with more expensive fare. However, if the mid range fare becomes unavailable, I don't think you'll ever see the cheaper one for that same flight or time

I also agree with you. Our flight down on Jan 1st did not offer the cheapest rate of $74 pp, only $99 and higher. The flight back on Jan 8th did offer the $74 pp rate. There is no way when they just opened the dates this morning, and I bought my tickets around 6am, did they already sell out of the cheaper fares for Jan 1st, flying out of Indy to Orlando, they just did not offer the lower rate for whatever reason. I only want nonstop flights, and SW was still over $50 pp cheaper than any other airline that flies out of Indy. So I am still really happy with the price I got. :earsboy:
