Waiting for SWA to open its Dec/Jan fares thread!

I'm really beginning to wonder if they're not just going to wait it out like they do with the other segments...if we won't have to wait until Sept or so to see this segment.

I hope not.

Though I don't think SW releases on Eastern time since they're based in Dallas? But I could definitely be wrong

For what it's worth (not much), I called SW again. Was told what I'm always told (except for those few times when I've gotten lucky and gotten more info, which it what keeps me calling). No, it's only open until December 12. Any idea when it will open up? "No, they don't tell us until the same day it's opening." "So does that mean it definitely won't be today, since they haven't told you anything?" She replied formally. "No, I am unable to confirm when the schedule will be extended." But then added in a friendly tone, "But I would be very surprised if it were today."

So who knows whether this is her personal opinion, or a knowledgeable hint.

I have been following the SWA forum on www.flyertalk.com and according to a post by the board moderator (nsx), he/she feels it won't be open until next Thursday (Aug 11). UGH!!! Doesn't really matter anyway. With the current systemwide over (ended Aug 4) the BUF-MCO route is pricey again so I won't even think about booking until sale fares are available again!!!!

I am waiting for January 1. I hope they open soon. I have my return ticket booked on Song already. We have a $430 credit with southwest that I need to use. My whole family will be on Song. I just hate losing $430! So one way it is. We only touch down and won't have to change planes. It's so far without a movie!

Will SW be releasing fares for only Dec/Jan or will we see February with the next round of fares?

I think I remember booking SW last October for February, but I am not sure.

I think they opened from mid-December to late Jan or early Feb, and then later extended to March. Which would jive with your recollection but I could be wrong too!

I just checked and it is still sitting at Dec. 12th. It better be today, or I'll have a heart attack waiting. I have my one way, but I need to get back. We are going Dec. 10-20th.

When they posted it last time, didn't they release it on Thurs, but quickly yank it and re-release it on Friday?

Ergo, I usually give them Thurs. & Fri's and if nothing, then I start waiting for next week They'll probably trick us all and release it on a Monday

Correct me if I'm wrong, but last time they released on a Thursday. So many people were booking at the same time that the site went down and when it came back up it came back up with the old schd. By the next day they had it fixed and therefore, allowed the new dates to be booked.

Maybe only 11 more minutes to go (since they often release on a Thursday at 10 CST).

I was told though that was b/c of a systems problem. They intended for the release to be Thurs. I don't know if that is 100% correct.

Well it is now 10:09 CST and NO release. I was just reading on flyertalk.com and an SWA employee is stating 8/17 for the release date.

I just called. Was told it would probably be next month before they were released. Called back to see if I could get consensus. The second rep said the dates were not yet released, but should be very soon. So who knows...

If any one is flying out of PHL, Airtran has a 2 day fare sale to MCO for $59 each way good through 12/20/05.

I have SWA going down at $79 (12/9), and got Airtran for $59 coming back (12/17). I am so sick of waiting around for SW, and now I don't have to worry about constantly checking Ding or anything like that. Plus, a credit won't do me much good anyway cause we won't be flying after December for at least a year (I'm pregnant, so no money or desire to travel with small kid). I never see Dings go below $49 anyway, so for $10 more I have piece of mind, save time from constantly checking, and have the EXACT times that I want. Woohoo! Hope this info helps someone.
