Waiting for DISNEYLAND HOTEL DVC Thread (see post 1 for updates)

An Aulani dedicated 2 Bedroom most definitely has a 1/2 bath right off the entrance, across from the kitchen. It is NOT part of the master bath.
I was referring to the 1BRs but yes, the dedicated 2 BRs have a 3rd toilet.

It's too bad VDH will only have 19-1BRs and 20-2BRs out of the total 300+ room inventory. It may be a dog fight to get those at 11 months.
Newbie here! I’d love to buy my first contract at VDH, but I’d be looking to book a 2BR for most stays and I’m nervous about the 2BR inventory. I don’t have a great frame of reference but 20 sounds low to me. On the other hand, if 2BR aren’t that popular, maybe 20 is plenty. What do folks think about booking availability for 2BR at 11 months? Would I generally be okay, with maybe exceptions like the holidays being harder? Or am I going to be taking my chances on every booking?

For reference, VGC has 23 dedicated 2 bedrooms. I know most resorts at WDW have about equal 2 dedicated bedrooms to lock off rooms. VDH will have much more studios than other rooms, sort of like the current VGF with the add on

Short answer is it’s anyone’s guess. The long answer is more complicated. It will all depend on the points chart and people’s desire for certain room categories. If you take CCV for example, a great majority of the 3+ million points that sold were for the cabins but yet, the hardest rooms to book are the studios, even at 11 months at times. At VDH, the opposite might be true since the studios will outnumber villas by 8 to 1. Since there are so few, they might be a dog fight even at 11 months. This is all speculation of course. Disneyland is so different from WDW and most people might only need a studio for 3-4 nights. VGC is case in point. While the room inventory is tiny, a great majority of the booking skew towards the studios because the points chart for the larger villas are so high. If you are that concerned, I would consider paying a little extra and getting a guaranteed week contract with the room type of your desire.

I’ve wondered the same-we own at VGC and always travel in a 2 bedroom with our 6-8 people. I know we could do two studios if forced to, but we really love the kitchen and gathering space.

I thought 2 beds were the most popular at most DVC, after studios. If it wasn’t going to have many studios and not many 2 beds, that would be more concerning. It’s so unknown at this point. I am pleased with the large number of studios, because that’s what we usually get, sometimes a 1 bed. If you are prepared to get an expensive 2 bed, like with a better view/location, that helps, or a more expensive studio. The cheapest rooms will always go first, except maybe those weird tower rooms. I haven’t paid attention to their availability at Riviera.

VGC doesn’t have different room categories-all studios are the same, for instance, so there aren’t cheaper and more expensive options. It’ll be interesting to see what they do at VDH.

VGC is so small, DVC didn’t bother with room categories. VDH on the other hand is a huge resort so my guess is they will have multiple room categories like BLT with SV rooms being most sought after at 11 months for the lower points.

The 1 and 2 BRs at VGC really are the best in all of DVC. They’re huge and that extra full bathroom is a game changer. I have a hard time going back to the studios but often times don’t have a choice because the points chart is so brutally high. Go less and stay at the larger villas or go more and stay at studios. First world problems.

According to DVC 1BR's are more popular than 2BR's. :rotfl2:

Figured I should also post this here -

Keep the perks coming DVC!
Thank you for posting about the new member lounge - I know this post was from a while ago!

I have a couple of questions if anyone may know the answers! I'm a direct member at SSR.

I'm going next summer (end of July, early August) so I'm guessing it should be open by then - do you think there may be delays? I just really really hope it works out! We're coming from the UK and it will be my first trip the DL!

Also, I will be travelling with my son, my SIL and nephew and my friend - I am the only DVC member, will they be allowed to come in too? Is there a limit on how many people / per member if there is one? I appreciate this may be still to be announced!

Last question - do you think they will be doing tours in July/August still? What are the perks for doing the tour at the moment?

Regarding possible delays: I don't think there a reliable way to know unless something is announced by Disney. But your best bet might be to keep an eye on the weekly DL updates that are out there. And also keep an eye on Youtube vlogs that keep an eye on construction and happenings. There is bound to updates from both of those sources through the winter.

You should be able to get access for everyone *on your DVC reservation*. Most contracts only have 1 or 2 "members/owners" on them. But benefits extend to anyone on the reservation traveling as a group or family. You are restricted by the capacity of the room, however. Unless I am totally missing something.

I've never been one to take a tour, so hopefully there are some experts out there. I know there are some recent threads about tours returning. :thumbsup2

Awesome - thanks! Yes, we are all booked into a 1 bed villa so hopefully that will work out!

I will definitely keep an eye out for posts and vlogs - are you able to recommend any for DL? I watch the Provost one (not sure if I'm allowed to say the full name!)

We've owned at VGC since 2009 and always book 2 bedrooms. With my kids being older now we can only travel at real busy times over holidays; I've NEVER had a problem booking at 11 months. I'm planning on adding on at VDH too - and I'd expect similar demand for the 2 bedrooms.

Take this with a nice sized grain of salt but...

I checked into VGC last night. Stopped by DVC office this morning which was reasonably lively. Spoke to the rep for a while and he said that they're expecting to book their first guests at VDH in September 2023. First time I've heard anything specific from an actual CM.

I think that timeline is probably accurate. Everyone expects sales to begin in Spring 2023 and resorts usually open 6 months after that. All being timed with the 100th celebration. Exciting!

BTW, is VGC still giving those prints as gifts when you check in?

Very cool. We drove over to have lunch at Craftsman Grill the other day and the office was a ghost town. Both CM’s were quite chatty, but both were anxious to learn when sales would start.
