Waiting for DISNEYLAND HOTEL DVC Thread (see post 1 for updates)

I think there may be wording in the POS about home resort bookings having, at minimum, a one-month priority over bookings using non-home resort points.

Edit: Found the info here: https://cdn1.parksmedia.wdprapps.disney.com/media/dvc/en/collateral-docs/ms-pos-rev-12_13_2018.pdf

3) DVC Operator may increase or decrease the length of the Home Resort Priority Period; however, the Home Resort Priority Period will be at least one (1) month except as defined in section 6.a.4).

4) During the initial year of opening of each new DVC Resort, DVC Operator may modify these reservation windows for the new DVC Resort to give greater priority (the “Opening Priority Period”) for reservations for, and access to, Vacation Homes at such new DVC Resort to Members with Home Resort Priority at that new DVC Resort. The Opening Priority Period may vary for each new DVC Resort. DVC Operator, in its discretion, will determine how long the Opening Priority Period will be for Members with Home Resort Priority as well as for Members who own at other DVC Resorts.

Well good news, VDH will be around 2.7mil points (if the average point chart will be the same as VGC...some views will surely be higher, some also probably lower), not 5-6mil.

But I agree, the existing establishments in the area will have occasional struggles serving a 4th tower.

The public filings include the number of rooms: 253 dedicated studios, 38 pods (tower studios), 20 dedicated 2-bedrooms, 18/19 lock-off 2-bedrooms, 0/1 dedicated 1-bedrooms, and 2 grand villas.

We know the number of days/nights in a year.

We can use the VGC points chart as an approximation, additionally estimating that pods coming in at ~80% the points of studios (based on Riviera), for the points per night.

Multiply all the rooms times all the nights times the points per room per night and it comes out to 2.7mil total points.

A heavier points chart than VGC would obviosuly mean more points.

n.b., the public listing is a little unclear about the number of lock-off 2BR and dedicated 1BR. It lists 19 LO 2BR and 0 Ded 1BR, but that would add up to 351 rooms when they also declare 350 max rooms. There's also clearly a dedicated 1BR on one of the lower floors in the plans.
Correction on this, VDH will have ~3.4mil total points if it has the same points chart as VGC.

Of all the things to go wrong, I actually got the days in the year wrong. So embarrassing.

Short version: I put the number of weekdays/weekend-days in each points season into hidden columns in my spreadsheet. I copied the table template from VBR, which has 5 seasons, which copied the VBR seasons. When I pasted the VGC points chart into the template, the hidden cells did not change so the VBR day distribution persisted. This resulted in ~1/5th of the days in a year going 'missing' as VGC only has 4 seasons.

So here's a random question that I doubt anyone knows the answer to, but I'll ask in the hopes that someone has heard.

At WDW, when you're changing your home resort reservation to another resort at the 7-month window, you can simply modify it and grab the other resort, if available, without risking your home resort reservation. Currently at VGC, if you try to modify a reservation, you cannot choose another resort.

Does anyone know if VGC and VDH reservations will be modifiable into one another? I'm asking because if I were able to get a VGC reservation here and there at 7 months I'd like to switch in from an existing VDH home resort reservation without risking the whole vacation by first cancelling the VDH reservation..

I would expect it to be but of course have to wait and see. I've often been puzzled that they chose to not allow VGC to be modified to WDW. I'm sure it would be rare but it had to have been an extra step to prevent it and there's nothing in the POS that has any such restrictions.

Yes, I asked this exact question to MS and they explained that points can only be modified to the same region/location. For example you are not able to modify from WDW to VGC or AUL which is why they are greyed out as an option.

So... Vacation Club-ish

Must be a thought about dummy proofing for owners. They figure people could get confused that there currently isn't only 1 resort at DL.

Yes that’s what blueprints say at least. I hope they keep it that way and wish they had done that at Riviera. Only BLT, Kidani and VGC are that way and it’s amazing.

BWV 1 bedrooms sort of have an extra bathroom. Well, really an extra sink with the toilet, sink, and shower in one room, and a tub and sink in another connecting room. It's not bad, but 2 full bathrooms is ideal.

I saw on some blueprints that the 1 bedroom and up will have an extra bathroom. Does that look right?

BLT, VGC, and Kidani 1 and 2 BR s truly are the best with those extra bathrooms. It's too bad VDH will only have 19-1BRs and 20-2BRs out of the total 300+ room inventory. It may be a dog fight to get those at 11 months.

I am curious if they added a few more 1 and 2 BR based on what DVCNews reported about the filed timeshare license:
"The license authorizes Disney to sell 16,952 timeshare weeks for Disneyland Resort, which is the equivalent of 326 vacation homes. This is a minor reduction from the approximately 350 vacation homes which had previously been cited for the project".
Or maybe it's still 350 and someone is just off. but hey if there are less studios and a few more larger units (or a restaurant) I wouldn't complain.

Original plans were 331/332* - 350, depending on lock-off usage.

So this could be a really small 5-6 unit shift, or something bigger, depending on how lock-offs are quantified in the license.

* there is inconsistency in the original filing regarding the number of 1BR and whether or not they're standalone or lockoff.

Aulani has an extra 1/2 bath off the kitchen, but it’s not the same…

An Aulani dedicated 2 Bedroom most definitely has a 1/2 bath right off the entrance, across from the kitchen. It is NOT part of the master bath.
This is correct, when we stayed there this past June, there was a half bath
