Wait times at MGM

Hello all,

My DW and I went to MGM two years ago and were dissapointed by the posted wait times. We never saw anything longer than 15 minutes. But in reality, they were more like 45-50 minutes. This happened to us on multiple rides but the worst were Rockin Roller Coaster and The Great Movie Ride. Should we trust these when we go in a week or just fastpass. Had we known the real wait we would have fastpassed both of those rides.

It does happen. It also happens the other way. Sometimes it says 45 minutes when it's really only 15.

Part of the problem is, in some cases the CM at the entrance will give a lanyard to a guest and ask them to give it to the CM when they reach the front of the queue. The lanyard has a card that swipes to tell the CM how long it took for the guest to get from the start of the queue to the loading area. But then (you guessed it!) the guest forgets to hand over the lanyard. So....the wait time is never posted.

I'm sure there are several reasons for incorrect wait times. This is just one of them. But, armed with that knowledge, you may want to FP any rides you know historically have long waits.

Interesting...I've always found the MGM wait times to be always exaggerated...aka posted at 30 minutes, but really a walk-on. It seems MK is slightly more 'conservative' with their wait times, though I have seen posted times that are much too long, or much too short at all 4 parks.
