Wait times at HS are insane 7/28/21

Totally agree they need Fast Pass to return!! And most likely Disney will put some kind of price tag on it... whether it is a new tier for tickets (add on like the hopper) or pay per day.... Also hope it is NOT a pay per ride... that will be a nightmare!
The Max Pass at Disneyland worked well for us in 2019, but not sure how that would work at WDW with 4 parks?

But they need to bring back Fast Pass!!!
Absolutely - We've owned DVC for 19 years, and go to WDW several times each year. The end of fastpasses has been a disaster. We were there from July 5th to 12th this year, and it was horrible. We will not be giving Disney any of our money unnecessarily - eating off-property, no souvenirs, etc. We only went to parks because we have APs. Mostly just sat and people watched. Thank goodness we didn't have children with us

absolutely. There really is so little for children thereto begin with (especially with no shows) that you end up looking at hour plus waits for the few things they can do?

I don’t know the answer with that park, I’ve been frustrated by it for years. It’s a shame as some of my favorite rides are there.

I am thinking that the non-planners are enjoying no FP. Before, they got on nothing. Now they get on a lot of stuff with a wait. And it's a lesser wait than being in a standby line with other people having FPs. So planners are crying, non-planners are riding PP for the first time in forever.

One thing I wonder about with the present circumstances. Disney depends on food, snacks and merchandise revenue as well as park tix and resort income. People standing in line for lengthy periods of time are, in general, not spending money on meals, snacks, merchandise. Trivial?

With people complaining about getting into the stores and crowds at CS, and lack of TS, I think Disney is maximizing what they can sell with their limited workforce.

When we were at HS recently, we found Disney-posted wait times to be inflated but it's still also true that the park doesn't have enough to absorb the amount of people in attendance. We tested out a couple of different plans over the course of two days. First day, we got there well before park opening and joined the line toward the left waiting for security to open. Once through security, we veered all the way to the right so we were closer to TS. When the park officially opened, we were first on SDD. Then we did TSM and Swirling Saucers with almost no wait. By the time we got to RnRC, the actual wait was about 40 minutes (posted 60) but that was fine because our RoTR boarding group hadn't been called yet. By the time we got off, it was time for RoTR so we did that, then Star Tours a couple of times before lunch (less than 15 minute actual wait). After lunch, it was really busy so we mostly walked around and shopped until it was time for our Oga's and Droid Depot appointments (for families who need an afternoon break, this would have been a good time for that). We did also do Smuggler's Run in the afternoon which was our longest wait, probably close to 50 minutes. Then ToT and Runaway Railway lines were better by 4:30pm-ish so we did those with an actual wait of about 25-30 minutes each. Dinner, then another ride on SDD right at the end of the night. It worked great. On the second day, we did RnRC and ToT first then waited to do Toy Story Land stuff until after dinner. That worked too. The biggest key for us was to get there super early, rope drop one big area first (Sunset Blvd or Toy Story Land), be prepared for maybe 1-2 longer waits for the rest of the morning, spend the afternoon doing easy stuff, then hit the rides again starting at around 4:30pm.

According to TP, actual wait times (not posted) on peter pan AVERAGED one hour yesterday and were frequently higher. That's pretty much comparable to wait times with fastpass most busy times of the year, and is considerably worse than when we went in July in 2017.

Hey all. The wait times at HS today are so bad I wish I hadn’t spent the money to go. We rode one ride at rope drop at that was it, everything was 60+ at that point.I’m grateful we come often enough that we have done most everything, but leaving and watching hoards of people still streaming in made me really feel for the once in a lifetime or once in a few years people.

Im sorry but this park does not absorb people well and even though the 50th will be all about the MK, I don’t think I’ll dare come her

I don’t miss fast passes at any other park but this one which is so crazy because I hated the fast pass options/structure at this park the most.

*sigh*
I just posted a "there and back" of our experience. We checked out early--for the life of me all I could think about this trip was how much money we had paid and vacation time taken for what we were getting. By day 4 we literally only rode 1 ride. It wasn't just Hollywood either--we attempted MK during a heavy rain day close to park close anticipating the wait times were inflated and it was packed, lines for everything, and the vibe was that 'do or die' stay in the park all day and it didn't look like many were having fun...We actually went to the front desk the next day, they let us out 2 days early and took care of us. We will try again another time--we still love Disney--but not like this. This was my first post COVID trip--and our TA said their bookings the last 2 weeks have absolutely exploded, so someone's experience just 3 weeks ago, will be very different than what those in the parks now are currently experiencing.

The cynic in me thinks the long lines and disgruntled repeat customers are actually part of Disney's plan. After a few trips like this we'll all be begging for a paid FP system.....at any cost....if we aren't already.

You make a very good point!!! Disney is preparing for the "Pay for Fast Pass" announcement!

We went to HS on 7/28 and I agree. Wait times were high. While the posted times were inflated, the actual wait was not that much shorter. We RD and rode all the rides we wanted to. Bonus - we got a BG for ROTR and a 1pm Olga’s reservation
