Wait or just book? Advice Needed!

I currently am a Disney Visa card holder with a reservation made at POFQ from 8/22 - 8/31. The reservation was booked through a AAA agent with a regular AAA discount.

I sent an email to my agent over the weekend telling him that with the release of the free dining code, we wanted to change our original reservation to a 2 day room only rate, and then book the free dining offer for the remainder of the trip. I then told him to call me for my Visa card number if he needed it.

Waited around yesterday, and hadn't heard anything back from him, so another member of my party went to the AAA office to speak with him. It seems he was off as his child is really sick. The other agent in the office wouldn't change our reservation as it wasn't "hers". She left him our information with instructions to call us today.

When I didn't hear from him again this morning, I called and it seems he is off again today as well.

We really don't want to miss out on the free dining, and we really want to be sure that we get POFQ. Should I just call myself and book it on my own, and change my old reservation later, or should I just wait? I have no idea when he's going to be back in the office and the worry is just driving me nuts.

I feel horrible that his child is sick, but think that there should have been some kind of backup in place. I just hate that no one else in the office can help us out with this. I want to just book it, but don't want to take the sale away from him either.

Any thoughts on my chances of getting POFQ if I wait? Thoughts?

I would be concerned that his peer would not assist. You have no way of knowing how long his child will be ill, but you also have no idea how long the rates will be there for the room you want.

It is a tough choice as the agent will lose out on a commission, but which is more important his getting a commission or you getting your dream vacation?

That is how I would look at it, but I am one that has canceled AAA before and trust me I did feel badly, but when it was done and I booked what I wanted I felt relieved.

I can't really offer advice, but I called yesterday to talk to Disney about my reservation, (since my TA was doing all she could, I thought I'd help). Anyway, Disney wouldn't talk to me about my options, nor would they book me another reservation, unless I cancelled the one through my TA first.

You could, of course, get a different story from a different CM.

I'd call back the travel office and tell them someone else needs to cover his reservations while he's out, since this is time sensitive.
