I got lucky and got a studio at Hilton Head Island for 2 weeknights in beginning of August @ 7 month mark. I actually want to stay for 3 nights, so I asked them to put my name on the wait list for that one more night. I know HHI is very popular in the summer. But I just want to know, from your experience, what's my chance of getting that one night? :confused3

I sure need some pixie dust here! :wizard:

I know it's tough to get HH at 7 months out (which is why we just added on points at HH). We went a couple years ago and I had difficulty getting the days I wanted (I did get 4 nights, just not the ones I wanted...I think I wanted weeknights and had to take a Fri and Sat). I didn't waitlist, so I don't know about that. I am about to call on Thur morning to try to book VB for August. Fingers crossed for you!!

I am the same boat as you. I got 3 nights Fri-Sun for a 1 bedroom in the beginning of August and I am wait list for one more night be it Thur or Mon.

I would love to know our chances. The CM I dealt with told me to call once in awhile to check availablitly. It been about a week, I think I am going to call soon and check in.

Good luck...it our first time to HHI.:)

Please let me know if you get your extra night, good luck!
I wonder how often do they check those wait lists.

:flower3: JUST A SUGGESTION FOR YOUR HHI AUGUST TRIP...KEEP YOUR WAITLIST...IN THE MEANTIME, BOOK THE EXTRA DAY OR TWO UNDER A CASH RESERVATION...THEY ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE OR THRU THE DISNEY PHONE #.

P.S. HHI IS AMAZING!

Do you have to call to check on the status if you have a waitlist reservation ?
I thought they will make a reservation for you automatically if the waitlist comes through ?
I don't mind calling from time to time to check on the status if that helps.... but was told by the CM that I don't need to take any action and if the waitlist comes through the extra night will be automatically added to my reservation.
Is that the correct procedure ? Or should I call from time to time to check ?
Thanks for any advice !

May be it is a silly idea, but if I book it with cash, does it mean they have one less studio available for point reservation? :confused3 I am hoping maybe if no one book those cash inventory, they will fill them with people on waitlist (i.e. me)

I will share a couple things with you from our experiences with waitlisting and with HHI.

Prior to us booking @ HHI for an August week it was suggested to me by a CM that it might be easier to get in during the summer if I started our ressie with a weekend night. People tend to want to only book the lower point weeknights not the weekends. If you back up your dates & are willing to part with the weekend points it may help improve your odds of getting 3 nights.

Next, just last week I started trying to book 11 nights at BWV in August. I booked the first 7 nights starting on a Friday. Then the next day I called back & added the next Sat. & cancelled the Fri. The next day I called & added the next Sun. etc. THEN I ran into an availability issue the next day so I had to waitlist night 10. The next morning I called back around 10:00 'cuz I couldn't call at 9:00. The CM put my 11th night onto the waitlist. Then she asked if I wanted her to check for availability for the std. view (which I figured would not be open but I said sure, go ahead since I'm on the phone). Next thing I know I'm hearing a "Hummmm". Turned out the boardwalk view for the 2 nights I had waitlisted WAS AVAILABLE but the waitlist hadn't picked it up yet!! I think the waitlist system only cycles thru X times per day and probably someone had called that morning before me & dropped the nights so there they sat!! I asked if she could force them for me & cancel the waitlist and so that's what she did. I am a firm believer that if you really want something that you waitlisted that you should call & check on it sometimes. You never know when someone else who had booked at their home resort may try to resort hop over to another resort or something at 7 months.:thumbsup2
