Wait listed for BLT Studio but availability on regular WDW Site :(

In June being 5 months out we decided to take a girls trip to WDW the second week of November. The only availabilty was Saratoga Springs and put in a waitlist for BLT. In July I tried to get a studio at VGF but when I was at my four months availability there was no availability there. Today I was looking at the current promotion of free dining to see if we should book at a moderate with free dining and just save my points. Decided to stay with Saratoga Springs but the frustrating thing was there is availability at all of the deluxe villas for a studio during our time there on the regular reservation site. How do they determine how many rooms in the deluxe villas go to the public not dvc members and then if they don't sell do they fill in the wait lists and if so what is the timing of this is it a month or two ahead of time.

Two different inventories. Those rooms that you see are rooms that are either not owned by members, but Disney--they retain ownership of a certain percentage--, rooms that were turned over to Disney equivalent to the points used by members to trade out to options like a cruise--Disney needs to rent them to pay for those trade options like a cruise since the cruise lines don't take "points" as payment, or are rooms that are turned over 60 days out prior to be rented with the money going back to DVC as breakage.

The only rooms that would ever be eligible to even be available for wait lists would be those classified as "breakage"--and even that is figured out I think ahead of time. All those others would not be used as they are technically already booked by other owners--those owners be Disney and those that traded out.

A thread hint was to call MS a few days out to see if they would accommodate a WL. We did this and it would've worked except the room they wanted to offer us was HA and my husband has a problem with that so we didn't take it.

Anyway, something to keep in mind if your WL doesn't come thru.
