Wait list

Question about wait list.
If the wait list comes available is MS careful with how they use your points?
I mean has anyone lost points because they used from the wrong use year or year? We are using 08 & half of 09 points and would be upset if they didn't use all the 08 points before using 09 points. Especially since they are from 3 different contracts.
I would like to try using the wait list but I'm afraid of my points getting mucked up.

I had a waitlist come thru for an upcoming trip in April. I had some points in holding and they used those for the waitlist and put the rest of my points that I had on the other reservation back in my current use year. Worked out great for me.
