wait list question

My husband and I booked at VWL for the first week in December - we booked this the 1st day of the 11mo. window.

Well a few weeks later a few members of our family wanted to go too. The rooms only hold 4 and this would make it 5. We called and there were no studios left for that week at our home resort. We got them on a wait list for VWL but have not heard anything yet.

Then at the 7mo. window, we got them on a wait list for OKW and SSR.

What is the likelyhood of this comming through at any of the three resorts?

They said they would be willing to switch rooms or resorts 1 time, just to get to go but I don't want to do that to them.

I have heard people say that you could book each day one at a time (or whatever is available) then add up to the week you need, but does this leave you open to having to switch rooms?

If it is the same type room at the same resort, then you will not have to switch rooms, the reservations can be linked. The problem with going on a day by day automtic waitlist is ou have the potential to switch resorts or not have a day anywhere in the middle of your stay.

So, do you recommend waiting until you can book your whole trip instead of the day by day booking? I've seen both arguments on here concerning this and am confused. We want to go the week before Christmas, so I thought we should start booking this week day by day.
