Wait List for Trader Sam's Grog Grotto

Hello Everybody! On an upcoming trip we have a 6:50 weekday reservation at ‘Ohanas. Afterwards I was hoping to go to Trader Sam's Grog Grotto for a drink. Any idea what time I should try and get on the wait list? It will just be me so I’m hoping it won’t be too difficult.

People start lining up around 1:00-1:30 for Trader Sam’s on weekdays - weekends, even earlier. They open at 3:00, and start taking names 45-60 minutes before they open. I’ve been seated very close to opening this way. I’ve also been during slower times and had to wait 90 minutes around 4:30 pm for a spot for two, but we’ve also gone and been told they had no more spots but to stop by occasionally to see if someone didn’t show. We didn’t, so I don’t know if we would’ve had a seat or not.

Last year it was first come first served. Get there early and you may be able to get right in. I think the patio opens at 3ish

My wife and I were just there on Friday. We didn't know how popular the place was and decided to go on a whim. We arrived around 4 or 4:30 PM. The inside seating was a 3 hour wait. The patio was first-come-first-served, and we got a table immediately.

As far as I can tell, the main difference between inside and outside, other than the ambiance, is that outside they will only serve your drinks in plastic cups. You can still get the souvenir cups (if they have them in stock), but you can't get your drink in one.
