Wait list for SSR buying direct

I was placed on the wait list today to purchase 50 add on points at SSR direct from Disney. One guide told me on Friday that the points were immediately available, another told me today there was a wait.
Anybody out there have any info on how long it might take? Any recent experiences with SSR?

Was placed on a wait list for BLT last year and points were available a week later. Although the market is picking up in time shares. Good luck!

I think I heard they are wait listing everyone that isn't buying what they are currently selling

Disney is getting significant amounts of SSR inventory via foreclosure, so unless the waitlist has a ton of people on it, I'd expect the wait to be shorter than average. BCV and VWL are the ones where I'd expect long waits. And VGC.

The delay can also vary based on use year. There are three times as many December points at SSR than April, so you will wait, on average, three times longer for April points than December points.

For what it's worth, I haven't seen people complain about a long wait list at SSR they way we've seen for BCV/BWV/VWL etc. I'd call back the guide who said there'd be no wait and see if he's telling the truth. It's a big resort with lots of points floating around, so it shouldn't be too tough to get what you want.

And I think what Best Dad Ever was trying to say is that Disney has created a wait list for all the classic (i.e. sold out) resorts. If you would like to buy one of the resorts they're actively selling (AKV, Aulani, VGF) you wouldn't have to wait for points.

It does seem they decided to create a wait list , I guess so people feel like the need buy resorts that are actively being sold .

I feel this may backfire cause I know if I wanted more SSR points and they put me on a wait list I would look at the resale market till they called .

And there is one of the biggest benefits of buying direct. I wouldn't be surprised if you can also use this purchase to get a reservation at a resort that is fully booked as well. So if you have plans for an upcoming trip and want to stay in a "fully booked" resort, you might want to give your salesperson a call and see what he can do.
