Wait list fail, staying at SSR. Couple questions

DB and I stayed there last fall. We requested to be placed near the transportation. The plus side is that we were near the big pool, AP, and the bus stop. The bad news is that we were the last stop, so if the bus was full, tough cookies, we were standing or waiting for the next bus.

go in expecting a great place for real rest and relaxation, and i doubt you will be disappointed:cloud9:

This is exactly what I'm looking for. Honestly, I just want one night of totally uninterrupted sleep w/o having to wake up with an anxious startle because the baby is either crying, or about to start crying (don't ask me how I wake up right before she starts crying, gotta be a mom thing. ;) )

Pretty funny to be traveling to Disney World to get sleep! :rotfl:

I bought into SSR because of price per point and length of contract. Boardwalk is my favorite though. We stayed at SSR in Feb-couldn't get into anywhere else-just bought and was booking 2 months out-I really enjoyed it- felt upscale, relaxing, we got a counter service breakfast(with mickey waffle) and ate out at the pool, my son was the slide opener that day! Nice and quiet-busses were great- a cast member was at the stop and would ask how long we wee waiting- then he'd go into a corner-talk into his collar- and the bus would come! So I think they are aware of the bus situations.

July we are staying at Boardwalk- was able to book that far enough in advance. I want to see Howard Jones in October at Epcot- Food and Wine- couldn't get Boardwalk but happy to stay at SSR again.

I also recommend calling again, because we also have gotten several great resorts last min. by calling and changing. We got a studio at BCV over Marathon weekend the day before checking in. We got a BWV studio on Dec 22 calling the day of checkin. (these were both in the last yr) It never hurts to try, even the day of checkin as we have gotten several rooms that way!
Have a great trip! :cool1:

How long are you staying?

Thanks for the suggestion to call to see about availability at other resorts. I didn't know we could do that past the waitlist window. I've called a couple times and everything else seems to be booked. Looks like it's going to be a busy weekend at WDW!
I've never gone in the summer, so I'm curious about what's it is going to be like.

However, this is a solo trip and I'm going more for R&R than intense WDW experience
Normally, SSR doesn't do much for me. But, I just confirmed an exchange there for my late February/early March trip, and I'm getting pretty excited by it---the proximity to DTD gives me a few nightlife possibilities that I wouldn't ordinarily have at the other resorts when the parks close as early as they do during that time. SSR has a slightly more sophisticated vibe than many other resorts. Not ideal for a family trip, but I'm thinking it might work quite well for a solo trip.

My boys(now 13/9) love SSR, because they can walk to DTD, eat at Wolfgang Puck's Express(their favorite restaurant on site I think), and for my youngest the LEGO STORE, never can have too many Bionicles!

They would rather stay at SSR than VWL any day(lame feature pool and slide).

Breaking news: I've been informed that Bionicles are ending and a new group is taking their place! Buying opportunity!

We'll be back at SSR for T-gving in yet another Grand Villa, with yellow Lego shopping bags.

Called today for a reservation starting 7/14. SSR was the only thing available for a 1BR. Would I like to stay at BCV or BWV? Sure! But I'm just happy there is something open for me less than a month out. I like the Turf Club at SSR - great meals! I love being able to relax and enjoy Disney, no matter where I lay my head at night.
