Wait List/Cash Reservation Question

So I finally got my member number and I am able to make reservations. YAY!

We are planning an early December SSR 4 night trip - I was able to reserve 3 of the 4 nights and I waitlisted the one night I couldn't reserve. 2 dvc nights, then a wait list night, then another dvc night.

I also reserved that waitlisted night as a cash reservation (same room type and resort) which I will cancel if it does come through. So I have 3 reservations for a 4 night trip.

So if the waitlist never comes through how do I get the resort to keep us in the same room? Its ok if I have to go to the front desk and do paperwork. I don't want to have to switch rooms or worse I don't want to be without a room on two consecutive days for 5 hours.

My guess is that there will be DVC availability but getting a waitlist match is another question. People tend to book at SSR while they wait for another resort to open up, when it does that cancel SSR and book at the other resort.

They will do their best to accommodate you as long as you make them aware. Not only does it make for happy guests but keeping you in the same room for all 4 nights results in less cleaning for the hotel (towel/trash service once vs 2 extra full cleanings). I'd have member services note it on all 3 reservations and talk to the front desk when you check in. Obviously it is possible that if the resort is completely booked up for your room type it may not be feasible to keep you in the same room but I would guess that is extremely low odds with SSR due to its large size. Availability also changes all the time so in addition to the wait list I would keep checking the online availability as you may be able to snag the room yourself before the wait list grabs it.
