Will be taking our first trip to Disney world Jan 17th for my son's 12th birthday. Should I book airfare now or wait until closer to the date? Since I am traveling during "Value Season", I figured there would be lower airfares, but I haven't seen many yet. Any help you could provide would be appreciated as it is somewhat overwhelming planning my first trip to see Mickey!:wave2:

Hey,

Finally, someone on this boards from SE MN. Welcome to the DIS.
I am just east of you in Rochester. Lucky you to be planning a trip away from this cold weather.

IMHO, you need to book now for the best fares thru Northwest. Where you are flying out of? Right now Rochester has horrible fares to MCO and MSP has some pretty good fares on NW (less than $200).

We flew to MCO last Jan 2 and paid $259 i believe out of Rochester.

Where are you staying in Orlando?

Hey neighbor,
Nice to talk to someone so close by. I would like to fly out of Roch as it's so much more convenient but I've had the same problems with not being able to get good airfare. Found a good rate yesterday flying out of MSP with Airtran for about $190, but I didn't book yesterday, and today the rates weren't available. We're planning on staying at he Holiday Inn Family Suites and renting a car as we are also going to do Universal and Sea World.
I'm really excited about the trip but this airfare stuff is driving me nuts. Thanks for the advise. I'll think I'll have to book out of MSP as it looks like the rates for RST are going to stay high.

the airlines seem to have all there best fairs posted from here for travel through Feb 5. IM guessing that if you see a great deal, now, you should jump on it.

Hi,

Saw some $159 fares on NW website today to MCO in January. That is the lowest fare I have seen on NW for a direct flight.

I have never stayed at HIFS, but have heard good reports about it and it SO close to the parks. Glad to see you renting a car if you're going to be offsite and going to other parks.

If you have AAA, they have good prices on Universal and Disney 4 and 5 day park hoppers. Prices on listed on their website.

Herc,
Just wanted to let you know that I found a decent airfare ($186pp) out of RST tonight that I jumped on. It connects in Chicago but there is only a one hour delay between flights which isn't bad. I had been checking several different sights all night and it just all the sudden was there. The return flight back is a little earlier than I wanted but by then we should be eager to get back home. Hope the MN winter cooperates with us, especially with the Chicago connection. Thanks for your help. Mickey, here I come!!!

Good for you guys! I jumped on $353 from Duluth 'cuz I didn't think I could do much better....today it's running $401. Maybe we SHOULD move south, after all! Still so much nicer than driving 3 hours to the Cities, finding a place to stay for the night, finding a place to leave the car, then having to drive 3 hours to get home when you're all worn out (or is that relaxed?) from the trip!:jester:
