Wait, didn't I just get back?! An August '10 PTR...TRIP REPORT LINK ADDED p. 27

Totally fine about mixing up the pictures in your trip report, yes WDW can be chilly in Feb. I love the flashback pictures.

The Mickey statue was actually at the store behind home plate, 30.00. It is super cute, but I don't know that I want something that large.:rolleyes1 If it was a small, maybe 3-4" statue I would purchase it for sure.

Sorry to get off topic, but I just found out that the parade of All Stars goes through DL on Tuesday the 13th. If you have MLB network they are televising the parade at 3:00PM. How cool is that? My DVR is set for all the programs.

I understand about not wanting Summer to come to an end, it has been so nice here. Have a great weekend.

Really, they were $30?! So that is even more than what they were charging on MLB.com. Hmmmm. I suppose once you pay for shipping it'd be right around that. I'll have to take a look at what they have. I can't miss out on anything Disney and baseball.

I think I remember seeing somewhere the parade goes through Disneyland. That would be so fun to see.

Hope you have a nice weekend as well!

Happy one month!!!

Love those stylin' pink jackets! ;) That is a cute pic with Mickey in the car, I wish they still had something like that!

Thanks!

I know, aren't those jackets great? I am pretty sure they had matching warmup pants too.

Thank you handy dandy links! Sorry I've missed the in between stuff though....

How cool you get to see Summer Nightastic and all the new stuff. Figures the first year we deviate from a summer trip they change it up.

I don't like seeing Harry Potter people not in character. It's too weird. Look how short Daniel is!

We had a Mears shuttle once and it got us from point A to point B just fine.

Whoa, the Hulk ride looks very.... Hulky  I'd need coaxing to get on that thing. Do you think the other parts of Universal/IoA will be less busy because of WWoHP?

Oh gosh, you have to do Forbidden Journey! Can you take something for the motion sickness just before the ride maybe? Oh I can't wait to see your pictures from this day. I hear the details are incredible!

I love the Boardwalk idea for your first day. Taking it easy, gorging on a No Way Jose which I've heard is pure heaven and then relaxing after you've stuffed your tummy. Ahhhhhh :cloud9:

I love all your flashback memories! You are so lucky to have been able to go often. Mmmmm, kinda like Demetri being five years old and going back for a fifth time this year! :rotfl: The youngest usually get the perks don't they?

Yahoo for Mickey Mail and do we have time for a one month dance? I think so!!

:dance3::banana::woohoo::banana::dance3:

You're welcome, I always thought the links made reading TRs a lot easier. :)

The Summer Nightastic stuff is going to be really cool. It's always nice to experience different things. :thumbsup2

The funny thing about that picture and/or seeing the HP people out of character is that I still think of them as the character. Like when they have them on talk shows it's always like oh, Harry Potter is on tomorrow. haha

I really don't know what to expect of the crowds in other parts of IOA. I am hoping they won't be as crowded but who knows. Maybe if people get sick of waiting they go to the other areas.

I am sure we'll have a ton of pictures from our Universal day between me and my sisters. We can't wait to see it in person.

We have certainly been spoiled, especially recently with all of our trips. I never thought we'd end up in the Vacation Club but it's definitely worth it for us!

Hi Sarah!!:goodvibes Sorry...I got so behind but I'm all caught up now!!:thumbsup2 Your plans look really great so far! I can't believe your trip is so close...that's so exciting!:yay: I've really enjoyed looking at all your flashback pictures! Oh and YAY!! for only one month left!!!:dance3: I guess I picked a good day to catch up!!;)

I can't believe how close it is either. Less than a month now. :dance3::eek: Can't wait!

One month, one month! :woohoo:

I agree with Kara, what was up with all the floral patterns back then? I can't count how many outfits I've seen of myself in old pictures that were of pink, red or purple floral patterns. And of course all the different colored leggings to match, lol!

LOL, yeah, I practically lived in leggings when I was younger. I am not the most fashionable person in the world but I still look back now and wonder what I was thinking wearing them. :scared1: YIKES!

Woo, only one more month! :woohoo: Loving the retro pictures -- fun.

I'm really sad about the end of the HP movies being so near, too. Did you ever go to the midnight release party for any of the books? We always had a blast! I'm planning on doing the midnight showing for both parts of DH. CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Yeah, we went to the parties for the 6th and 7th ones. For the 6th book we had preordered a couple copies and had just intended on picking them up the day they were released (not at midnight though!). Well, we ended up going to the bookstore just to see what was going on and ended up staying. Then of course we had to go to the one for Deathly Hallows. It was fun being part of an event that you knew so many other people were taking part in too!

How weird. That's the same year we went to Sea World for the first time. We've never been back though. I'd like to go there again someday, but we just never seem to make it to any of the other parks in Orlando.

I had a Mighty Ducks hat too and didn't like hockey either.

We went back a couple years ago and loved it. You should definitely try to visit again.

haha, nice!

28 days, aka 4 weeks to go!!!

Yippee!! Think it's about time to start posting some park plans! So let's start off with my favorite park, the Magic Kingdom!!

MAGIC KINGDOM PLANS

MK EMH
Tues. 8/10 AM EMH 8:00-9:00
Thurs. 8/12 AM EMH 8:00-9:00
Fri. 8/13 PM EMH 11:00-2:00

Alright, so typically our plan is to visit the Magic Kingdom on our first full day in WDW. That would be Monday, which isn't an EMH day. Either way we'd be there at rope drop so the plan would pretty much be the same. Our list of must-do attractions at the Magic Kingdom:

:wizard: Space Mountain...we'll head to Tomorrowland right away and do this first

:wizard: Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin...another favorite of ours even though Emma says she stinks at it. LOL.

:wizard: Splash Mountain...CLASSIC!

:wizard: Thunder Mountain...another classic and we've got to complete the "triple mountain whammy". Thank you Stacy, I don't think I will ever be able to NOT refer to the mountains as triple mountain whammy anymore.

:wizard: Pirates of the Caribbean

:wizard: Jungle Cruise...if we ever go to the MK at night (which we probably will for the fireworks/MSEP) it might be interesting to ride it at night, something we've never done. I hear it's cool

:wizard: Haunted Mansion

:wizard: Peter Pan's Flight

I keep saying that I want to ride Dumbo since it's been a long time since I last rode that. I'd also like to meet Princess Tiana. I have a feeling my sisters will want to do Mickey's Philharmagic. That will be a nice way to get out of the heat for a while! And we can take a late morning/early afternoon ride on the People Mover. :)

As I said, we will also have to check out the Main Street Electrical Parade and the Summer Nightastic fireworks!

So, we'll try to get as much done as we can on our first MK day and then since we try to get to each park twice we'll go back and do our favorites again as well as some of the attractions we missed on the first day.

Anything I missed? *DisneyDreamer, feel free to speak up!!

Curious to know how you guys are going to sit on the rides. Are you going to take turns being the single person who rides alone? What about Haunted Mansion? Haha, if I had to ride that alone, I'd sit in the middle, close my eyes, and cover my ears during the entire ride!

You forgot Stitch's Great Escape (or whatever it's called)! :lmao::lmao:

Just kidding!

Sounds like GREAT plans to me!! I can't remember, are you a teacup rider, or no?

haha, probably. We've always had an odd number of people so someone has to sit alone. I'd rather sit by myself than get squished into the row like we did once on BTMRR!

Oh geez, Stitch. That is an interesting attraction. LOL.

Yes, we'll ride the teacups. Just as long as we don't spin too fast!

You forgot TTA! It's always a must do. I was seriously bummed when it was closed last August. I'm still annoyed over the new soundtrack. It's awful!!!

You definitely need to do Dumbo! You can get some really cute photo ops on it, and by the solo Dumbo that sits along side the actual ride. You should try riding it during Wishes. I've heard it's a lot of fun!

I don't think I've ever managed a tripple mountain whammey before. There always seems to be at least one that we skip. Sounds like a blast though.

Jungle Cruise at night sounds like fun. I would love to do it, but it just hasn't worked out on our last couple of trips.

If you want to avoid the lines for Princess Tiana, I'd really recommend getting there 15-20 minutes before she's schedued to arrive for the day. You'll have to wait that 15 or 20 minutes on the front, but at least you want be waiting an hour or more like you might later in the day.

I've never done Jungle Cruise at night either - I bet that would make for a very different ride!

I really want to do Jungle Cruise at night as well. Ariel (and her feet!) will be there with Eric in lieu of the Grotto being closed. I'm hoping she sticks around until my trip too.

I think you covered pretty much everything. The only thing I would add is the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor. I love that show and it will be another way to get out of the heat. :thumbsup2 But yeah, your plans look good. I'm excited to go on Splash Mountain, since it was closed in January and it's been a couple years since I've been on it. :sad1: I also can't wait to see the Main Street Electrical Parade and the Summer Nightastic fireworks. :cool1: I also want to meet Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen again, too. They were awesome, and I need a new picture with them since I hate the one I got in January. :headache:

Ugh, I know, I am not a fan of the new soundtrack either. I guess it's OK but the old one was so much more fun and futuristic. :(

We've gotten our picture by that Dumbo outside the ride before. I just need to get back on there for nostalgia reasons. haha!

I don't think I've ever managed a tripple mountain whammey before. There always seems to be at least one that we skip. Sounds like a blast though.

We hardly ever miss a triple mountain whammy. Unless one of them is closed. Which stinks. But other than that we've always got to do all three! :thumbsup2

That is a really good suggestion, thanks. I think the only reason we didn't do that in April was because I wanted to see the Move it Shake it Celebrate it parade which was at the same time as the meet and greets started. Must meet them this time though!

I've never done Jungle Cruise at night either - I bet that would make for a very different ride!

That's what I hear. It sounds kind of spooky.

I really want to do Jungle Cruise at night as well. Ariel (and her feet!) will be there with Eric in lieu of the Grotto being closed. I'm hoping she sticks around until my trip too.

Ooh, that would be cool!

Wow, only 26 days until our trip. Can't wait! How about another trip flashback??? 3 down, 13 to go. Think I'll be able to finish?

Trip #4: 1997

1997 was an important year in Disney history. OK, so technically it was 1996 that was the important year. But because of that milestone, there was a big year-long celebration going on. Yep, that is right, it was Disney World's 25th anniversary celebration!!

This trip brought us back to the Polynesian yet again. I'm telling you, we loved that place and love it to this day. Since I was in 6th grade at the time, I think this was the first trip we took over spring break. Yes, my parents were the type that didn't like to take us out of school, so once I hit middle school...vacations that involved missing school were done.

I remember hearing how they were going to turn the castle into a giant cake and I couldn't wait to see it. At the time I thought it was soooo cool. LOL. I even bought a postcard of it.

n20305212_31587455_6515.jpg

So lovely. Note the sarcasm. ;)

I don't really know why, but for some reason I kind of pinpoint this as the trip when I really got "bit" by the Disney bug. I remember walking out of the Magic Kingdom after watching the 25th anniversary parade. We had watched the parade in Frontierland so as we exited it was still coming down Main Street. There was something about the theme song that brought a tear to my eye. It was just so happy and magical. I still love that song and somehow managed to find it for my ipod. :goodvibes

It was so cool being there for a Disney milestone. A few years ago, when Disneyland had its 50th anniversary, I kept thinking how I am so going to go to the 50th anniversary of Disney World. I am declaring it right now. How amazing would that be??? :goodvibes

aww..your lucky you got to see the pink castle cake!! I didn't get to see it, we went in 1996 and in 1998 and didn't see it either of those years!

Oh my, that castle cake is a sight to behold. I think it's cool looking back at it, but can you imagine if that was the only year you got to go .... and the castle was a cake?! :rotfl2:

Can I come with you for the 50th? Should we start a PTR? :lmao:

I loved that pink castle cake, I was there that year! :cool1: I know a lot of people hated it, but I loved it, I even have a magnet with the castle cake on it, and I think there is also a postcard floating around my house somewhere with it on it! :)

I think the cake Castle is interesting...I was 18 in 1997, but I think I would have still liked it - something different!

I remember the commercials from the 25th Anniversary on TV. I beggggggggggged my Mom to go!!! We had to, it was the 25th Anniversary! All well, at least I know I have a VERY GOOD chance to be there for the 50th!

My DH and I were there for the 25th too! I didn't really like the castle. I still have the 25years backpack I bought! I use it all the time it even washes well. I even have the figment I bought in 1985, it looks like the figment from the old ride to, not how they have them today where they are fuzzy. I did have a huge Mini my aunt bought me, a sun hat with my name on it and a pluto bank from 1972. But after my dad died my siblings cleaned house and threw it away :scared1: I was soooooo mad!!
