We are heading there this weekend, Sunday - Thursday.

I was just on the DL website and according to their schedule for next week, they don't have fireworks Monday - Thursday. Is that true? And from the looks of it, the CA parade is only on the weekends as well?

Hmm...this could change some of our plans.

They usually don't have fireworks every night until local schools are out - so summer.

We also adjusted our schedule because we were going to be there a Tues - Thurs but are doing the San Diego portion of our trip first and will now be at Disneyland Thurs - Sat so we can catch the parades and fireworks.

If I can't have Fantasmic, I at least want fireworks!

From what I remember, fireworks are only daily during holiday peak weeks, summer, & spring break peak weeks. During the off-season, it's only during the weekends. I don't know why block party bash isn't on the schedule. I though they alternated days with Aladdin.

wait in a minute get your head in the game, wait a minute get your head in the game! :P

yeah, park closes at 8PM as well. If you overlap it with a weekend, then you can be able to watch a lot of the shows. The parks shouldnt be busy at all. should be empty and able to hit all the rides in one day.

Thanks for the responses. So that leads into my next question: is it really possible to see both the Electrical Parade at CA and then get to DL in time to see the fireworks if they start 40 min. apart? Seems like it in theory, but has anyone ever done it?

Follow up question - does anyone know the parade route for the Electrical Parade at CA?

Thanks again.

I wouldnt advise both on the same night. Disney had them that close together to keep people from doing both. It really clogs up mainstreet. They have less DL gates open the cm's check tickets pretty slowly to make it hard to get in. If you want to try, you are best to watch the ELP near the orange in DCA. A couple of floats before the parade is over, head toward the gates. If you wait until the parade ends you'll be stuck in the crowd.

Yes...it is possible and we did it in 2003! Make sure you get a viewing area for the Electrical Parade at the front of DCA...there is kind of a circle thingy and we sat along the curb on the outside of the circle. As soon as the last float had gone by, we were out the gate and across the plaza into Disneyland. I believe the parade started at the front of the park and worked it's way back. That probably is to facilitate people doing what you are planning to do.

Keep in mind a LOT of other people are going to have the same brilliant idea, so get going ASAP from DCA to avoid a huge long line to get back into Magic Kingdom. You may not wind up with the prime viewing spot for fireworks at MK but it can be done!

Have fun :)

So sorry to hear that wait a minute...Im in the same boat though and was very disappointed to find out we'd miss both the block party bash and parade at CA as well as the fireworks at DL. This is my family's first ever trip to DL and am hoping that they won't realize what they're missing out on. I certainly hope the less busy weekdays and shorter lines/smaller crowds will make it worthwhile! :(

You can cross over, but as previously stated, you won't be the only ones doing it. So, hurry!

Sorry about the fireworks, but they are only during the more crowded times. So, you either have more crowds and fireworks, or less crowds, and no fireworks.

We went for for few hours on Wed. and it was nice-not too crowded. :grouphug:

Its a lot harder now than it was back then. We used to be able to do this back then too but couldn't last summer. For one thing last June, the EP started from the other end, meaning it gets to the Sunshine Plaza area last. Also, Remember is so popular and crowds are just higher in general. We tried this twice last summer and never did make it. The best we got was seeing Remember from the Espanlande which is a poor substitute for seeing it inside the park. And Disneyland does indeed make this so hard, last June, they had like about two turnstiles open at the gates to let people in after having only one turnstile open at DCA to exit. We waited a couple of minutes then just went over to the California letters, sat down and saw them there, it was obvious we'd never make it. I don't know if they always start the EP now from the opposite end of Sunshine Plaza but they did the two nights we saw it last year.

This is discussed here: "What You Should Know About Off-Season at DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=18462889

That's the way I understand it also. We'll be there Mon-Fri and I am really bummed about missing all of those fun things! :(

You know, we're NOT crowd people and our 2 year old is very active. We plan our trips to avoid as much of the crowds as possible. For the past 3 years we've skipped both the parades and fireworks - our little one wouldn't sit through them even when we tried. Just the High School Musical Pep Rally is hard for us to get through (thank goodness for the kids being allowed to participate at the end.) So, with that said, we've still had a fabulous time at DL each and every trip and haven't missed the fireworks or the parades at all, there's so much to do and so much fun to be had!
