The last time I was at POR, we got Mickey Pancakes with bacon. But the menu's seem to indicate a Mickey Waffle. What is a waffle? Is it like a pancake?

a waffle is the same as a pancake only in that it is made with a batter and is usually served for breakfast, and both are delicious with syrup or jam. a pancake is made on a griddle, but a waffle is made on an iron. waffles are crispy on the outside, light and airy on the inside, and oh so good. they usually come in 2 sizes...belgian and regular. I think the mickey waffles are belgian, (basically thicker than regular). I know waffles are popular in some parts of europe, do they not have them in scotland?

:teacher: As someone who loves to eat, I'll give this a shot. The batter used to make either waffles or pancakes is either extremely similar, or exactly the same. The dif, for me anyway, is that a pancake is completely soft and (should be) a little fluffy. A waffle gets a little crispy, as it is cooked in a waffle iron (making both the top and bottom nice and crispy). Also, a pancake is flat, and the waffle would have little crannies to hold the syrup/ fruit (if you use any). HTH. Anyone got a pic to throw up for them?

I apologize to the above poster, I totally didnt see your reply

no no, you did a good job, I forgot to point out the crannies. oooh, and fresh fruit on them, yum.

I know there is a great picture somewhere of mickey waffles. I just can't seem to find it. here's a link to wikipedia that has a picture (and a good description). not of a mickey waffle, but if you use your imagination, just pretend mickey's face is in there. lol.

Thanks for that. The waffles look lovely. We tend to have a potato waffle over here. Lets hope that dd will accept a waffle over a pancake.

Mmm... Mickey Waffles with strawberries and extra whipped cream.

We had them every day at GF cafe on our last trip.

DISing makes me hungry...

:woohoo:

I am a Mickey Waffle fanatic. We get them at The Trails End at FW. I had searched all over the web for the reciepe for these waffles. Every one I found, was not even close. Finnaly on one trip, we asked one of the chefs, Willie, what they made those Mickey Waffles with. He went back in the kitchen and returned carrying a bag of 'Carbon's Malted Waffle' mix. :teacher:

This is indeed the real deal!!!! We ordered 2 cans from their web site. I have a 4 waffle Mickey iron, and yes we can make our own authentic Mickey Waffles!!!! If you try it, one tip.......let the iron get really hot, and crisp those waffles real well!!!!!!!
