I have about 22 auctions up on Ebay and only 1 item has a bid. WAAAHHHH!!

Don't these bidders know that I need spending money for our trip?

I know it is just after Christmas and people are probably spent out but I just didn't have time to list last month. Anyone else have auctions that are in a rut?

One really really cool auction I had earlier in the evening was a BIN for $75.00 with immediate payment. I went to supper and came back and the item was already sold. So now I can buy a few pins but what about food LOL!

Can you post us a link to your items? I love buying stuff off of ebay so I'll take a look.

I don't know if that is allowed but my user name at Ebay is the same as here :)

I buy/sell a lot of girls clothing on ebay and here is my advice
First off - put clothing on for 3 days only. The moms get all hyped over a sweater and just have to have it asap. If they see the auction is ending sooner and the wait is less, they will bid. If I put something on for 7 days, I find I don't get any bids until the last day, or even last hour. People want it, but they want it now. Also, on that note - I avoid buy it now on any clothing items. Electronics or things that are definately going for a certain amount all the time, I put a BIN on to get rid of it quickly.
So you are doing lots right, but I would suggest changing all the clothing to 3 days! You will probably be surprised at the better response. I have probably sold over $7500 in girls clothing over the past 4 yrs.

I know what you mean Sweetie about the length of time. I usually put up clothes for 5 days but with the holidays just ending I was hoping more people would be taking a look later in the week. I am sooo tired of listing right now I have no idea how people who sell 1000's of items do it. I will give the 3 day idea some thought-thanks :)

My aunt has sold things on ebay for several years. There are sometimes when business is just slow. She usually takes vacation then and doesn't do any listings. This time of year and summertime are one of the slow periods.

Wellll, I added you to my fave seller list and, I'm tracking one of your items.....does that help? ;)

Well, my toys were not doing well this week either, although I thought with the fact that it was educational would have others bidding as well....

Well, we put up 5, re listed four of them. We did get one nibble fro the free listing day, but that is it...

just thought I would let you know that I am watching one of your items and thinking about it

Maybe it is the stuff I sell but I've found that November thru the middle of January is awful for me on Ebay. I think that, for many people, they're caught up with getting their kids back to school and preparing for the holidays. I've used this time to take lots and lots of pictures of my items and write up all my auctions and save them on Microsoft Word.

In another week or two I'll start listing like mad. This will be my 7th year selling on Ebay and from the end of January right thru May is usually my best time. Can we say income tax refunds boys and girls! The past few years summers have also been good to me. For anyone who wants to take a peek at my stuff, my user ID is virgoten.

LOL, don't bother looking now though. There's nothing there. :p

okay ebayers if you really want to make big bucks , sell potc/lotr merchandise....and johnny depp stuff! because i can guarantee someone(possibly me since im on there all the time buying this stuff) will bid!

:teeth:

I did really well last week - which surprised me as I assumed people would not be spending even more money the week after Christmas!

That's the thing with eBay though - it's sooooooo fickle! And you can never "pin down" which week people are looking for what item..

For 5 and 1/2 months I did strictly ebay (no other employment) and as much as I loved not venturing "out" to work, I found it too stressful to continue that way - never knowing if I would make money on a given week or not..

So - I went back to work part-time.. I spend 3 days working outside of the home (so I know I always have at least 3 days worth of pay coming in) and I work my eBay the other 4 days..

And now....................I'm going to check out your auctions!! ;)

Thanks for the comments and peeks at my auctions everybody :)

I knew when I started listing this was probably not the best time for clothing. I was just hoping for the best because I started tallying up the "incidentals" we would have at Disney and figured I needed some more cash flow.

I just get so into the whole Red vs. Green in the MYEBAY section and kept seeing so much red that it was frustrating. I know better then to get too excited in the beginning but I just can't help myself

I also took a "vacation" from listing for awhile. This is a slow time for both retail and ebay. Makes since, everyone is spent out!

I agree with Sweetie about the time spans, I usually offer BIN for "mother" type items. Mostly because they don't have the time or inclination to sit items out, they want them when they see them!

I did very well in December so I'm hoping that tides me over through this slow time. I plan on putting up a few items tomorrow but taking it slow. I'm sure the slump will be over soon.

Good luck, kessieann! I'll check your auctions often, too!

We sell on ebay.... I have only have my antique postcards going this week. Other stuff restarting today.... (we took a break while on vacation and then over the holiday). Free listing day got me started again. Ive done pretty well.... sold a postcard of Washington DC from 1912 for over $50. About fell over, because I thought it was such a dull card and wasnt sure I should put it up....

Ebay is fickle! But I was really glad to be back to selling!

Melora-Don't you love those kind of auctions? My best one was when my parents moved my dad threw away an old Dr. Pepper sign from his restaurant. I took it out of the trash and cleaned it up and sold it for $80.00. I almost fell over LOL!

I hope my Millenium Princess Barbie does not sell, dh is making me list it...long story.
I should have put in the desrcripton that it had a huge dent in the box hee hee hee!
How can he not understand my love of all things that sparkle? Not too mention that all the Barbies I got were hand me downs and either were bald, had a foot chewed off or my older sister had drawn on them. Whew, now I think I just need therapy. That's why I come here

AAACCCKKK! As I was typing that last post my Barbie sold with the BIN.

:faint:

Well I just hope whoever bought her will give her a good home. Sniff Sniff.

Someday when I win the lottery I will get you back my dear sweet Barbie.

Ok I am not nuts just in a super goofy mood for a Monday morning. Must be because dh is back and work and dd is back at school and I am ALONE!

Kessie,

Since you do alot of kids clothes, you should try joining some loops. Go to www.yahoogroups.com and join some email lists for buying/selling/discussing clothes. You have a great feedback rating so you could join with no problem (You have to have at least 50 positive feedback with no more than 1 per 100 feedback as a negative.

I belong to a few...some being gymbobaynmoretoo and BigGirlGymbo - You can list other brands as well. Check it out, you avoid the fees of eBay and most of the time you can always find a buyer.

Hi everyone..

I used to sell a lot on ebay.. Gave it up a few years a go, just because it seemed like people were all negative happey, and then everyone else in the world started selling on ebay too.. lol

Anyways, my DH works for (pAyP$l), he told me that it's been really slow.

Good luck..

I'm an ebayer, too, who only sells about three weeks out of the year. All between that time, I am taking pictures and creating write-ups using Mister Lister, the cool download tool you can get free on eBay that lets you create auctions off-line. When you are ready, all it takes a a couple of clicks to uplaod all your auctions at once. Since we're still stuck in dial-up purgatory, it does take about a half an hour for me to get all the stuff uploaded, but I just go off to work on something else while my machine chugs away.

A few other things I've noted:
I like 7 day auctions, even for clothes. No, nothing gets a bid early on, but plenty of folks mark it in My Ebay and check back. If you can list it to run Sunday afternoon to Sunday afternoon, you'll also be catching folks who are browsing on the weekend, and might bid up your item in the last hour.

Oh, and since I sell a lot of clothes, I can guarantee you a good picture is worth its weight in gold: nobody buys a lump on a bed that is fuzzy and unrecognizable! I'm always amazed when I see these types of photos in auctions, especially for clothes, where the presentation is everything.
