W&D 1/2 Marathon Transportation ???

DH and I are planning to try the 1/2 Marathon in November. We are currently booked at AKV but waitlisted for BWV. I highly doubt the WL will come through so I want to make sure I have my facts straight. As I understand it, AKV is not a host resort so transportation to the WWoS for the start of the race will be up to us. I'm planning on taking a cab. Now, what about the transportation back to AKV after the race? Will we need to take a cab from Epcot or will there be Disney transportation (buses) available? We are staying for the after party so we certainly do not want a rental car.

The way it worked 2 years ago when DH ran it was that you had to figure out how to get to a host resort to get to the start. I'm not sure if they even allowed cabs onto the WWoS property. No one with cars was allowed to drop their runner off, I remember that. And after the after-party there was the regular Disney transportation (monorail and buses) to get back to your resort.

Go to rundisney.com and look under the travel options. It gives you a list of the host resorts that will be providing transportation to/from the expo and events. Last year AKV was a host resort as I stayed there for the race, but it is not this year. We are currently booked at VWL for the race this year and are on waitlist for BWV and BCV. I believe the only DVC resorts that will have transportation for race events are VWL, SSR, BWV, and BCV.
I can't speak as to how taking a cab to from WWoS will work for the race as I didn't do it.

I had not known about host resorts before I booked , my family at AKV. Well I've asked around on the boards about transportation that night and in the end we've moved to SSR because it is a host resort. Our DS & DDiL are the runners.
