"W" Anyone going?

I take it you weren't a fan of the final episode of the Sopranos...

Not sure.....I don't watch much TV. I saw a few episodes of The Sopranos here and there but never really followed it..... didn't someone shoot Tony at dinner or sumpin'.......

Man, those NJ Democrats are just too vicious for me......;)

I much prefer the "Walker Texas Ranger" kind of show.....bad acting....bad scripting, bad cinematography but lots of chin kickin'! :thumbsup2

You always know who is Good and who is "Not so Good" also..... I prefer to minimize "gray area" where others revel in expanding them and rollin' around.

This explains my general opposition to Hollywood post-modernist apparatchiks like Comrade Stone.

I made the mistake of seeing Nixon in the theaters and it was an unfair hack job. Don't get me wrong, Nixon was an *** at times and for a supposedly intelligent man, he did some incredibly stupid things. Oliver Stone portrayed him as an alcoholic and a wife beater and that just wasn't true. He loved his wife Pat and they had a genuine relationship. Nixon's children said he never laid a hand on their mother and deeply loved her. Plus Nixon came from a Quaker upbringing, so he just wasn't the heavy drinker Stone portrayed him as. Don't even get me started on the various conspiracy theories in that film. Larry Hagman as the powerful rich oil man who held secret meetings in the desert and controlled Nixon was just too much. :crazy2:

I'm sure though that Stone will be the utmost fair in his portrayal of GWB though.

Maybe there will be a scene in this movie, like in JFK where Tommy Lee Jones and Joe Pesci are not only homosexuals, but dressed up in make up, powdered wigs, and plotting to kill the POTUS. If that wasn't a clear sign that Stone was off his meds, then nothing is.:rotfl:

Nope. I too think it is disgraceful to mock a sitting President of the United States on film and try to pass it off as a factual account of his life. And why WOULD Oliver Stone want to make a film that is factually representative ? It would ruin his liberal reputation.

Nope. Wouldn't spend a dime to see it. I wouldn't even want to watch it for free on network TV. I even FF thru the commercials for the movie when I watch my DVR.

Not me. I find it distasteful to make a movie that mocks a sitting President. And I would feel the same way if it were a liberal President as I do about our current President. It just rubs me the wrong way entirely.

I totally agree. :sad2:

Oliver Stone has directed some of the most amazing films and especially when he does a Bio film it is very well done. I am not saying he isn't biased but he still makes a very good film.

JFK, Nixon, Reversal of Fortune, The People vs. Larry Flynt, Alexander (too long)

One of his best was Born on the 4th of July, that movie truly heartbreaking and I feel Tom Cruise was robbed of an Oscar for that film.

He also directed Platoon and that movie which I can't really watch right now I mean whoa.

W is a drama, it is not meant to be comical at all, Richard Dryfess is also in the film.

I don't plan on seeing it. I find it a disgrace that we are moking a president still in office. I can't beleive that America has stooped to that level.

I couldn't believe America stooped to the level of voting to put him in office...TWICE!! :sad2:

I'm excited to see it! I didn't realize that Oliver Stone directed comedies! :thumbsup2 :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Brolin will really have to brush up on those acting skills to dumb it down enough to play GW. :rolleyes1

I got the impression from the commercials that this was supposed to be comedy? Is it supposed to be a "real" account??? I didn't know Oliver Stone directed. It just looked like a stupid B level farce.

You mean like Bush's presidency? :lmao:

In general I would agree with you.

However I believe that Bush has made a mockery of the presidency, of the Constitution and of this country. So I really couldn't care less. I figure he's merely reaping what he's sown. I hope he's humiliated and ashamed. Though I doubt it will ever happen. That would take far more self awareness then he's ever shown.

I agree.

Oliver Stone movies are completely fabricated and over the top. I don't much care for G.W.B. but do I want to pay ten dollars to watch him be ridiculed? No thanks

JFK? That movie was completely fabricated.

Agreed. :thumbsup2

I'd like to see it but it will be something we rent for $1. I have had my fill of W. I don't feel the need to pay money to see more. :rolleyes1

I'd like to see it, but I won't LOL. Last movie I saw in the theater that wasn't a kids movie was Borat, LOL. In 2006?

Can't wait to see it.

And as for mocking a sitting President--I don't remember a time when that wasn't done. The fact that W has served up so much material is hardly the fault of movie makers and comics.

I'd like to go. I'm not sure if I will make it soon either.

No. Not interested in yet another Hollywood smear against a conservative.

I agree. I don't agree with much of GWB's policy and actions, but I still try to maintain some respect for presidency.
