VWL vs. BLT

We stayed at BLT in 2010 and really enjoyed the walk to MK, not so much the atmosphere. We are staying at VWL in October 2013. What are your thoughts on which resort wins out overall?

hard decision - these two are very different resorts - despite being neighbors at Disney.

VWL is northeast mountain type -

blt is modern type -

now love BLT! it is my favorite DVC resort - love it. but own at both because love MK.

with VWL you can boat or bus to the MK. It is bus transportation ever where else. You can take the boat to CR and ride the monorail if you want.
the bus is generally faster.

both are a short boat ride to FW - with its nice walking area.

I though BLT was very noisy (we were inside the C). VWL is very quiet (out in the woods). I prefer sitting on the sofa in VWL. The one at BLT is short with large back cushions that makes it uncomfortable to sit. I like the laundry room in the one bedroom and the extra bathroom at BLT. Kitchens are about equal.

VWL has a bus you can take to the MK and it doesn't stop anywhere but the MK and WL. Or you can take a boat. You can take the monorail to Epcot from BLT, but you have to take a bus from WL/VWL and it stops at Fort Wilderness first. Walking to the MK is always nice at BLT. Parking is a bit more convenient at BLT. There are many elevators at BLT, but fewer villas at VWL so you don't need as many elevators. We never waited on an elevator at either location.

I like the pool at the villas at VWL - quiet, no games going on. BLT - noisy, noisy pool.

It was nice to see the MK fireworks from BLT - either the bridge over to Contemporary or from the parking lot.
