I am sure this has been covered a lot, but I didn't find much using search.

How is the transportation to/from the VWL?

I know about the boat to the MK and isn't there one to the Contemporary?

Other than that how are the buses to the various parks?

We will be there in Jan and will have a car, so we will most likely drive to AK, but how about the Studios and EPCOT?

Thanks!

Buses to/from VWL are on par with other resorts. We have never had a wait greater than about 20 minutes.

There have been people posting with transportation concerns but I have never had a problem. Buses run every 15-20 minutes at the latest.

There is a boat that goes to Fort Wilderness and Contemporary and the MK

The only place that we drive to is Marketplace and the waterparks. We are always quite happy with any park transportation. Enjoy!!!

Thanks![/QUOTE]

We're pretty philasophical when it comes to resort transportation. Some days you may have a bad connection and some days it seems we get doused with pixie dust and wait no more than 5-10 mins.

We always have a car and we do drive to any AK & HS all the time but it's more of a thing where we leave the parks late at night and don't like the park emptying crowds.

Yeah, I forgot about the boat to FW.

Thanks for the confirmation on the boat to the CR.

To Epcot - Boat to MK - Monorails to Epcot. No, not fast, but Disney adventure all the way.

To Disney Studios - Bus.

I agree with elisa61 - you can't win them all, but you don't loose them all, either!

I our minds, the travel to the venue is part of the day's adventure. Don't miss meeting those in a hurry, having that conversation with someone that needs to take a breath! You might just make their day (or yours)!

Overall, I thought it was a little bit better than our prior experiences at OKW. The boat is a nice alternative to MK, but I wouldn't necessarily use it for rope drop (it starts a little late). The bus to EP and DS stopped at Ft. Wilderness along the way, but we were first off on the way back. We only drove to AK.

I believe the boat runs 30min before park opening and it's only a 7min ride (goes direct) so you can definitely make rope drop.

It's a very easy ride. On our Sept trip we went back and forth to MK 3x in one day.

I would take the same approach as you, buses to all parks but AK, drive there instead. AK is farthest away from WL, therefore, longer ride. Also, drive to DTD if you go. Other than that, transportation is as good as anywhere else. I agree with Eliza and DiznyDad that it is all part of the adventure. You never know who you might meet.;)

I haven't been to the VWL in January; we usually go in May or November. But we have found that taking the boat to MK and getting onto the monorail and taking that to the to Epcot is generally quicker than taking the bus! The bus makes quite a few stops along the way.

Wouldn't it be quicker to take the boat to the Contemporary and then the monorail to the TTC?

I am asking, not implying.

It might be a little quicker but not by much, plus the OP is doing it in Jan, if it's cold (and it could be) it won't be a very comfortable boat ride. I'd probably want to get off at CR to get warm.
I would definitely use the car for every park and resort except MK.
