We haven't been to VWL since 7/05. Have the sofa beds been updated? My boys found them pretty uncomfortable last time we were there. How are they now? We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else, just wondered if we should bring an air mattress. We love VWL! Thanks!

We had the same old sleeper sofa last November.

We were there in January and my father in law, who usually complains about everything, slept in the pull-out sofa. I heard no complaints from him about it. I heard complaints about virtually everything else, but not that. Example: The room had too many mirrors.

I was there the first week of December and slept on the sofa bed leaving the real bed for my 71 year old mother, I think I got the better deal, it was the best sleep I have ever had at a Disney resort, the beds are so hard, now I must wish they had a sofa sleeper in the studio at OKW in about 10 days, have to say I am not looking forward to the bed:rotfl2:

the sofa sleeper was the best

we just returned from our first VWL trip. DH & DS said they slept fine on the sofa, but it was worn down in the center. When my son first got on it, he rolled into the center "hole" (reminded me of an "I love LUcy" episode!):lmao: After a day int he parks, they could sleep anywhere and at least we didn't have to worry about anyone rolling out of bed!:goodvibes

We visited the VWL in December 2006 and had a "new" sleeper sofa in our 1-BR unit. The sofa was of a somewhat unconventional design (not the usual remove the seat cushions and pull up/out the folded mattress) and was quite nice. It had a firmer, less saggy frame with a viscoelastic foam (tempurpedic style) mattress overlay.

Bottom Line: it was quite comfortable and MUCH better than some of the old, conventional sleeper sofas we've had.

Incidentally, we switched units during our stay and the first unit had the old-style sofa, while the second had the new style. Apparently (at least as of early December), not all units have the newer sofas. Not sure if all old units are being replaced with the new design or if only damaged/unrepairable units are being replaced.

Over the last year, I have been in 2 different 1 bedrooms with new sofa beds and I was a little disappointed that on our last trip, the dedicated 2 bedroom still had the old sofa bed...especially since I had to sleep on it for 2 of the nights and my daughter kept rolling into the center and waking me up. They must just be replacing them as needed. I should have complained about the last one - maybe they would put on the list to be replaced sooner. :thumbsup2
