Just wanted to make sure that you are aware of the way rooms are assigned at DVC resorts, If you are not a DVC member (if you are ignore me and enjoy your trip

)...
Because this is technically a "timeshare" (bad words...Disney hates that term). Those guests that are DVC members will get priority on room request over those that are not members. If you book your reservation directly through Disney (Central reservations/travel company, etc.) you will be the last requests to be filled when rooms are assigned. Because members are "owners" and you would be considered a "renter" their requests come first. Even the members requests are blocked in a paticular order. Unlike regular Disney resorts (non-DVC) where requests can be moved around in order to accomodate someone that arrives earlier. DVC resorts are bound by the members contract. Requests are blocked in the order by which the DVC members book their reservations (the booking date is on the reservation) so who ever books first gets their requests filled first. All non-members are automatically shifted to the bottom of the blocking order and basically get what is left over. Does that make sense?!?!?
With that said, I agree you should request either near elevator or simply close to Lodge. There are no 2 bedrooms on the ground floor (just FYI...not that you said you needed that but I like to throw that our there). If your request is simple, your chances of getting them filled are good. Most member requests are simply smoking or non and requested views (which VWL has 90% woods view so that is usually not an issue).
