VWL room request?

We will be staying in a 1BR villa for the first 3 nights of our split-stay next month.
With all the construction, I'd like to put in a room "request" so that our stay is most enjoyable. We do plan to go back to the resort in the afternoon to swim/rest when possible.

Has anyone stayed there recently and have any recommendations? TIA!

The lake side has the construction, the pool and deck and trees are gone.

If you don't want to look at the construction, you can request "bus side". Or an even number room which is the same thing.

As for swimming, the only swimming available is the main pool, which is not large to begin with. Just trying to set your expectations since this is a resort with major construction going on.

Having said that, the WL lobby and restaurants are all functioning and it is still a wonderful resort. Enjoy!

On the plus side of staying in odd-numbered rooms (or lake side), the views of the lake, and subsequently, EWP are superb given the trees have been thinned. We found that the noise was minimal in our room, and even sitting outside on the balcony was manageable. The construction never began before 8 a.m. and was always done by 5 p.m., and when we stayed there (late Feb), there was no construction at all on the weekends. As Granny said, the lobby is still magnificent, the restaurants and gift shops are still open, and the subtle things that enrich your experience at the Lodge are still there such as the majestic music, the flickering lanterns, and the feeling of serenity. . .except during the day standing next to the construction site.

This is a good viewpoint! I never thought of views available lake side during construction. Which room did you stay in?

What floor did you stay on that afforded you those views?

We stayed in 5523, which is one of those super rooms at VWL. Before the construction started, it would have looked out over the Hidden Springs pool and courtyard area, and we had a balcony off the living area and our bedroom (1BR). The balconies on the 5th floor are dormer style, meaning the wall is enclosed rather than having railing, so you have to stand up to see over them. Still, being so high afforded us wonderful views. I think anything on the 3rd, 4th, or 5th floor would have excellent views. Yes, there is a little more noise, but as I mentioned earlier, with the balcony doors closed, we could barely hear anything. Even on the balcony, we could carry on a conversation or read. Obviously, the amount of noise you might have will vary with how high you are and just exactly what the workers are doing. When we were there, the first few days there was some major equipment digging along the shore then leveling the sand that had been trucked in. . .looked like the base for the path that will connect the cabins.

Thank you so much for the info. Aren't going till after the first of the year but haven't ever stayed there so was curious about the rooms and views.
