VWL Room Request

We're going to HH on our first points trip in September (we're counting the days!!!!), but have already made ressies to go to our home at VWL for DD's 4th b.day next May. At VWL, we're staying in a 2-bedroom (res. says it is dedicated) and I requested a pool view or lake facing room, non-smoking. Can anyone recommend a specific room? We don't mind a bit of a walk to the elevator.

Does anyone have any thoughts about staying on the top floor? We stayed on the top floor at WL last year, and I really liked that the balcony had a solid wall instead of just bars - I took the furniture off of it and then almost 2 yr. old DD could come in and out and we didn't have to worry about her since there were no railings to climb. Are the top floor rooms at VWL set up with that kind of balcony? I can't really tell from the pictures.

And... I also read here about some rooms that have an atrium view. Does this mean they are on a hallway that overlooks the lobby? Do any of these rooms also face the lake or the pool.

Thanks.

We stayed at WL in May and had a dedicated 2 bed Rm. #4552. We were almost at the end of the hallway far from the elevators. Our view was of the woods which was just fine. I'm pretty sure you will need to be near the elevators to get a view of the pool or lake since the woods hinder your view the further you get down the hall.
I'm also pretty sure that there aren't too many dedicated 2 bed's in the complex. As far as balconies- we had the metal rails for both balconies (bedroom, living area).
If we had one gripe- it would be that our drains in both showers were very slow (not much fun in ankle deep water). They never did fix it during our stay even though we called maintenance.
Overall, #4552 was great because we were at the near end of the hall and it was very quiet and relaxing being away from the pool. The unit itself was plenty big and very nice. VWL is also our "home" and we can't wait to get back. Enjoy your stay- you'll love it!!

We were just at the VWL this past June. We checked in a little late so none of my room requests were met ;) but that was ok. I would have loved to have had a top floor unit with a pool and lake view. I heard several people commenting that they could see a bit of the light parade from their room. I always prefer the top floor because I think the views are better. I don't have any room numbers, though...sorry. I didn't really think any of the rooms had that long of a walk to the elevators anyway!!

Have fun!

We stayed at VWL on the top floor in a dedicated 1BR a couple of months ago. We did not overlook the pool, which in retrospect we were glad. We liked the woods view with just a glimpse of the lake through the trees.

We had an iron railing. But I know that a few rooms down, around the corner, they had the solid wall balconies. If you like those, you could request them. I would think that the room assigners would know which ones they are.

The great majority of the balconies were the "see through" iron railings, though.

We just returned Sunday from the villas and ha d a dedicated 1BR #5532. It had a woods view with railings. I purposely requested the railings because I like to sit on the balcony, with coffee, and see a view. It would not be possible with the solid wall. We were pretty close to the elevators. My DH absolutely loved the room. He isn't a WDW lover, so my purpose on this, our first trip home, was to make him really appreciate DVC. I know that he did. Anyway, as long as I'm not overlooking a trash dump, I am happy!!!!! The Villas are beautiful and I can't wait to go back this December to feel warm and cozy!!!
