We decided we want to buy more points at another resort. We currently own at BCV.

So we're trying to decide if we want to buy VWL Resale or wait for them to start selling SSR - from looking at the artist renderings it looks to be a beautiful resort.

Any guestimates as to when they might start selling SSR?

We'll be there July 19 for a week - do you think they might be doing something about SSR by then?

Any opinions on this new resort?

They won't start selling for a while. My guess would be spring next year.

I would also say that there is no need to wait to buy at SSR for a number of reasons.

First, you can rest assured that they will try to increase the price/point once again when they are offered for sale. I'd guess that they're shooting for $90/point. But, considering the real estate market is definitely cooling off, the economy still stinks, and seeing how they are still offering Magical Beginnings on current DVC offerings, they might not be able to raise the prices any further. In any case, I would not expect the price to go down. If you buy a resale now, you are able to start using those points immediately, having a whole year usage before SSR is even an option.

Second, like BCV, while the initial sales take place, you have a big, big window in which to get in at SSR using your 7 month window. Reserving at BCV was absolutely no problem for us even though we don't own there.

Third, though the pictures of SSR might look wonderful, understand that's for good reason - to get you interested. However, understand that the location might not be the greatest (at least in my mind).

You must decide what's best for you. I'd think the ages of your children and your personal desires may be your best guide. If your children are young, you enjoy WLV and MK; WLV might be best. If you want points to use other places or to get away AND will have a car or you just like being close to DD/PI, either SS or OKW will be reasonable. You might also consider VB and HH but only if you will stay there part of the time. Cheapest option in the long run likely HH or OKW resale.

OKW is lower points than anything else at WDW and likely to be far lower than SS. Another idea would be BWV either resale or direct. While essentially the same choice as BCV, it has the standard view rooms for lower points. OKW also has the GV units so if you might need that much space, it's worth a consideration.

In part what's best for you might also depend on how many points you want. Adding on at BCV might also be a consideration, especially if you don't want a full 150 points or more. Buying resale at less than 150 points can be tricky and hard to work out in a reasonable way. Remember that there is a wait list for points at the sold out resorts so you might want to get on those lists as well, maybe several of them.

I think you can count on presales of SS by late fall if not very late summer. While BCV will not sell out by June as many have predicted, it will likely sell out by fall or early winter. I don't think it will be next year. I also think you'll see a price increase likely before presales start and again by opening of the resort and $90-92 pp by resort opening sounds about right.

Just an FYI...the last time that I spoke with Judy Kauffman, she stated that the estimated time of BCV and VWL to sell out would be late summer. Then, they'd start selling the SSR either late fall or early '04.

Just wanted to throw that in there. :D
