VWL or BWV?

We always visit 'Ohana each visit ang getting there from VWL is part of the fun. We get on a boat to CR and then hop on the monorail to Poly. It is usually pretty quick, but we allow some time to do it (like 1/2 hour).

We own at both and for us the resorts represent different sorts of vacation, with the VWL ones being more relaxing.

The BWV's doesn't have a quiet community room to gather in. We have to rent a villa with a living room when we're there with guests. VWL has lots of nooks and crannies for a few people to get together and chat and not be in full public view.

As our DGC get older, now 1, 2, and 3, we will probably be going to BWV more for the Boardwalk activity and the clown slide. DH and I will always prefer the VWL. DH and I are trying a 1 bedroom at OKW for 4 nights in June, we think that we can probably enjoy that resort with the extended family while the children are still young, and use the larger 2 bedroom units with them. We'll see.

Thanks everyone for the information. It sounds like it is going to be easy for us. I can't wait to stay at the VL. Are all the rooms inside where the main lobby is, or is the DVC part in a different section all together?
We don't know what to expect but we can't wait to get there. July can't come quick enough.

We faced the same decision when we bought and we went with BW. We have three kids (now 6,7,7). We loved the idea that when they were little and needed to be in bed early, we could put them to sleep and still sit on our BW view patio and watch the "action." I felt that once the kids were in bed at WL, we still had the balcony, but really had nothing to entertain us. I also love waking up to the quiet lake in the morning and honestly, the noise has never been an issue unless we've forgotten and left the balcony door open a crack.

We still love it to run to EPCOT just for fireworks or to get something quick to eat and the kids love walking around the lake at night, playing in the sand, and interacting with the street performers. We have a wide variety of resturant choices as well (@ BW, Swan, Dolphin, BC and EPCOT). Love it, love it, love it! When the kids get a bit older, they will also be able to have a little freedom to explore the boardwalk and EPCOT, while not having to navigate transportation.

Could also be that I'm from Minnesota and WL seemed too dark for me on vacation! I wanted sun and bright rooms!

Hi. I have stayed at BW with a not quite three year old. Yes, BW does have lots to do and see but if there is inclement weather, you need to go outside to get to restaurant, entertainment, etc....

Maybe the choice should be made dependent on how you feel about scary clown slides ;). I love the WL pools for my young children (though zero entry would be nice). The slide at the main pool is a nice introduction to pool slides for semi-young children. We borrow life vests for the entire stay from the marina and use those for the pool. There is no charge, just need to return them on your last day.

LOL, I saw a pic of that and it majorly freaked me out!!! What were they thinking??? :rotfl2:

Why not both? Original home, VWL... then after our second trip, we added on at BWV!! :)

I love both resorts but I would have to say that I'd do BWV for the location...2 major parks plus the Boardwalk.

VWL is great for proximity to the MK and Fort Wilderness. I always see the VWL as a place I'd stay for a nice relaxing long-weekend, where the idea was to have a casual pace, hang at the pool, maybe mosey over to the MK at some point. I think VWL is a more romantic  resort than BWV.

BTW, someone said something about the self-parking at BWV being far from the entrance and valet parking getting expensive, but DVC members can valet park for free at DVC resorts.

Bicker thanks for the map. It is a great help!
