We have ressies for December for bcv, but with all this talk about vwl, I'm wondering if I should switch. First of all is December weather the pool in Florida? I'm leaning towards bcv, but dh wants vwl. I'm one of those people who, once I find a good thing, I don't like switching around, but I do want to try new places and things. If that all makes any sense. How are the decorations at bcv? Do they compare to vwl?

nothing can compare to VWL/WL in decorations for Christmas.

It is amazing!!!

I would switch if you can.

BCV has a chocolate merry go round, the size that small children would be able to ride on, (but it's not for riding) and there are lots of pointsettias. The YC and BW have very nice Holiday displays as well as the Swan and Dolphin. These are all in delightful walking distance of BCV. However, the tree at WL is striking, and the lobby of the villas is wonderfully decorated as well. From WL it's easy enough to take 2 boats or a boat and a monorail to go to the GF which has the best gingerbread house I've ever seen. Also, there are often musicians playing either on the balcony or a piano player on the lobby level at GF.

We would pick the VWL, but would be very happy to be at BCV. You may or may not be comfortable to swim at Christmastime. The water is heated but the air may make you decide not to swim.

Here's a pic of the merry-go-round at BC.

You probably should go around to all the deluxe resorts to see the holiday decorations.

You'd probably have to go on the waitlist at VWL for this December. And then you still might not get it.

You can always keep your BCV reservation and visit WL/VWL. I'm sure that every DVC resort has a holiday feeling to it in December, so it's not like you would be missing out on that feeling if you didn't stay at VWL.

WL is a beautiful resort at all times, and is themed wonderfully for Christmas decorations. But I'm sure that if you like BCV you will find it to be a wonderful holiday resort as well.

As for swimming, I don't think you'll have much problem getting a chair around the pool at that time of the year!! ;)

Everyone thanks for the opinions. I'm going to have to make sure that I visit all the resorts during xmas now. That'll be what we do one day that we're there, visit each resort to see their decorations. I love Christmas, the lights and cheer....the chocolate carousel!

Granny,
Do you mean I won't have to save my seat with a towel during that time of year, even at stormalong bay? :earboy2:

You won't even have to be there at 8AM to get your towel on the chair.

I would say WLV for the warm, cozy feeling. I've been to WDW twice during the first week in January. One year was COLD. . . I wouldn't even think of going near the pool. This past January was unseasonably warm - I think that time of year is so unpredictable, but I wouldn't pack too many swimuits!

Hi,

WDW @ xmas is great!!!! I loved BCV & VWL last december! You'll be happy either way!!! Have fun!
