We just came back from a wonderful trip home. We stayed 7 days at VWL, our home resort.
There is a thread talking about the 5th floor being the top floor of WL. This is not so! There is a 6th floor which is only accessible with a room key. It is a concierge level floor with a nice breakfast buffet set up for its guests and a concierge waiting to assist near the elevator.
So how do I know this? We got to be the Flag Family and went to the 6 1/2 floor and then climbed to the roof to raise the flags.
You can see the 6 1/2 floor landing from the registration desk. If you turn around, there is a landing in the middle of the wall with stairs climbing upward. That is the 6 1/2 floor and the stairs to the roof.
Some of the things which made this trip special were:
- unlimited use of the motor boats for $199. Used about $400 worth of time in them
- son being guest conductor on the steam train (ask the conductor when you get to the station)
- Son being co-pilot of the monorail (twice)
- Seeing the Hoop De Do Revue for dinner (4th time for wife and I)
- Breakfast at Fort Wildeness ($8.50 all you can eat)
- Being invited to a dress rehearsal of the Hoop De Do Revue and son getting up on stage
- Getting to Storm-A-Long Bay (before Pool hopping ended)
VWL was everything we expected. Got "Welcome Home" from the first three cm's we encountered.
Room was great (1BR) - Jacuzzi tub was used 3 nites. Shower was huge!. Layout of the room was excellent.
We had a few minor maintenance issues which were taken care of the day we mentioned them to the desk. (light bulb out, sliding door missing screws to keep it latched, sink leaking)
I am so glad we are DVCers. We had planned another 7 day cruise in 2004. BUT.....cousins are talking about a 4 day cruise in October....and we have points for it!
