VWL Groupies & Lovers Thread (Special Collectors Edition 2.5) updated 2 February 2025

I was chatting with Member Service this morning about another question, and I inquired about pack and plays….he said they were in the villas 🙄. Should I request ahead of time, or when we arrive? Thanks!
You can request from Housekeeping when you arrive. You may get a pack & play, or you may get an actual metal crib - I've seen reports of both since the reopening.

They must have removed them during Covid? Nearly 30 years of WDW stays with pack & plays in the closets, now we need one they’re not there lol!

Yes, they did, probably due to having to clean them thoroughly between guests. That’s when the metal cribs appeared, too, probably for the same reason - easier to clean metal than mesh.

Not sure if anyone is interested or not but Disney+ live the Jacksonville jaguars and Atlanta Falcons football game from London is on with Toy Story characters in Andy’s room

Lots more interesting than the real thing😂😂

Random question! Is the soft serve machine still at Roaring Fork, or am I completely dating myself? 😆
The soft serve machine has been gone for quite awhile - RIP from my kids. We'd get the dining plan and they would always save their dessert for the Dutch chocolate soft serve. Wish I had a few pictures of how full/high they'd make that twist.

Hi Groupies :wave2:

I was looking at the room map on page 1 and discovered there are no 2br villas on the first floor 🤯(have never stayed in a 2br at VWL), therefore, my room request of an upper floor was unnecessary. Lol!

in general, when staying at WDW, do you typically submit room requests?

I usually do make requests but it seems they normally don't get honored. Can't hurt to try though I guess.

And I'm pretty sure all of the fifth floor villas are 2BR dedicated units. 👍 We make requests for every trip, regardless of resort.

I do still make requests but am so low on it being honored at VWL I wonder why. (Lake? There's a lake? :eeyore:)
Now BWV? They like me there! haha

Keep in mind if you want the murphy bed in the living area vs a sleeper sofa you want to request floors 2-4. 5th floor has the sleeper sofa.

If you care to share, what do you all normally ask for at VWL? I almost always end up (like Kat) with the dumpstahhh view (Boston accent). I typically request lake view upper floor, and probably have had that two or three times. This time I only requested an upper floor.

I am just so excited for my little munchkin to be there for his very first visit! 🤗

I always put dedicated 2BR, not lock-off, as my first request. Then upper floor, then lake view. Last time (2014) we got a dedicated on the 5th floor, but no lake view. It was the 2nd to last unit so we were far from the bus area and the view was grass and trees, no dumpster. It was so quiet. we felt like we had that whole area to ourselves. I haven’t decided if the Murphy bed is a big deal for us, so I’m not sure what I will request or if I will use Touring Plans like I did for Copper Creek in 2020. (That worked out well)

I always use touring plans, and haven't been let down yet. I always ask for upper floor, 2BR facing the lake. We always stay in 2BR dedicated villas, so that narrows the possibilities (I think about 75% of the 2BR dedicated rooms are on the lake side, and there are none at all on the first floor). I prefer room 5537 or 5541, as they are closer to the pool end so the view is nicer. Also a shorter walk down the hallway. We like the 5th floor, and because no one ever sleeps in the living room, having no Murphy beds on the 5th floor doesn't bother us.

I’m confused, isn’t dedicated or lock off selected at the time of booking?
