"VWL Granny" wanted more points, so...

.....he bought a BWV resale!!


Oh yes, we love our VWL. Wouldn't trade it for the world. It'll always be our "first love" at WDW!

But when we stayed at BWV on our second trip of this past summer, we had a blast there. DD13 and DD11 loved the Boardwalk area with all its activity, and the Community Hall was a big hit too. They liked the pool (though DD13 thought the clown at the end of the slide was "way scary"). And of course, walking to MGM and Epcot was a very nice feature.

So when we decided we wanted more points, our first thought was a VWL add-on. But as we thought about it, we thought we'd like to alternate vacations each year between VWL and BWV, with occasional visits to BCV, OKW and even SSR.

The nice thing about BWV for us was that it was a completely different feel than VWL....and it made us feel like we were at a completely different vacation destination, if that makes sense. So it wouldn't feel like we were going to the same destination every year.

And we knew if we wanted to stay at BWV at heavy ressie times, or get standard rooms, we'd have to own there.

Almost lost in the excitement was the fact that we'll be staying longer, and in bigger (2BR) accommodations. So to say that we're excited....well, that's a bit of an understatement!

And don't worry VWL fans....I haven't gone over to the enemy! We're just adding a little variety to our vacations....oh, and doubling our points as well!

I know what you mean about feeling as though it's a different vacation destination. We will be periodically be staying at The Poly and AKL (although they are closer to a VWL feel than BWVs are).
I am glad that you have not 'gone over to the enemy', as we VWL folk will need some help here from time to time!

The enemy? LOL....we first owned BWV (though we had debated on waiting for VWL to open) and did an add on at VWL. Your plans sound much like ours....I'd seriously love to add another 100-200 points at VWL to give us alternating vacations at each. Not happening any time soon though.

Lesley..."the enemy" is a tongue in cheek reference to the "home wars" that erupt on this board from time to time....the "my resort is best" syndrome! While they can get a little childish, they do provide some amusement and actually some good points that we might not otherwise hear.

Maistre Gracey....glad you checked in on this. You've done a great job in "defending" VWL lately and I wanted you to know I hadn't abandoned you!

Six months ago we didn't want to stay anywhere except VWL. Now we own at two places. Makes me afraid to visit OKW!!!




And......now I own at two places with tiny rooms!!!

What a hoot! We bought at VWL last December (first choice above 'em all), but doggoned if we didn't snag a great deal on a resale BWV in October - just waiting on paperwork. In my feeble mind, it gives us the best of both worlds. 'Course, I've never stayed in either one - we were at OKW in July and couldn't imagine it being improved on.

It's all good. Thanksgiving and/or Christmas at VWL for decorations, BWV for the hubbub and excitement other times of the year.

Ain't life grand?

We play for both teams too. Nothing wrong with that. We have slight wars in our house though. DH plays for BWV and I play for VWL. WE have almost equal points at each though, just to keep things fair. LOL!!!

Good for you, Granny! We are doing something similar, only at BCV. We bought at VWL about the same time you did. I was so sure we'd never buy more points that I threw away the recent add-on letter from DVC. Then we thought about adding more points at VWL to get bigger villas or longer stays. THEN we realized that an add-on at BCV would get us the best of both worlds -- more total points, and another location for 11 month booking. Even a 50 point add-on with banking and borrowing will get us a studio for a week, with the possibility of going bigger at 7 mo. Great minds think alike...

We prefer the "action" at BWV much more than the serenity of VWL, though we love the lobby there. Welcome to BWV!!!!
