Any suggestions for rooms, do's, don'ts, etc? We've dined at the resort before (Whispering Canyon (dinner) and Artist Point (breakfast). I guess I'm looking for things your average Joe wouldn't pick up on? And a good room location!!

Depending on the number in your group and the length of your visit, you might want to consider doing the family Length-of-Stay recreation package, which allows up to 5 people in your group to have unlimited watercraft and bicycle rentals. Last summer, my family used it and REALLY got great value from it. It was $199 + tax (maybe $210 altogether), and we did it for 3 adults and 2 teenage boys. The boys used several hours worth of water mice, as did we adults, plus DH & I took out a pontoon boat for an hour and we adults also took a spin on bikes over to FW for about 3 hours one day.

It is good for your length of stay, in our case 8 days. The boys were not allowed to take a pontoon boat, but they were happy with the mice. Depending upon how busy your park touring schedule is, this is a wonderful option. We liked the WL marina location since you can ride through the connecting lake over by MK, GF and the Poly.

Lots of people on these boards are aware of this package, but I didn't see it posted on the rates board at the rental office. They knew just what I was asking for, though. Minors must have a parent sign a waiver, but if you have teens they don't have to have you with them after the initial sign-up.

Let me know if you have any questions about this - and have a GREAT time!!!

Ask for a room by the pool or lake, this way you dont get the infamous trash can view. I have read that if you ask for a room near the elevators it is a sure bet you wont be near the trash area. Also smoking preference is important.
When you first check in ask to be the flag family if a day is available during your stay. We havent done this but those who have say it is great. You go up on top of WL and help put up the flags that morning, and they say you can see all of WDW from that vantage point. Be sure to carry your camera if you do this.
See the geyser near the main pool. See Electrical water pageant at night at on the beach area. This has been a mainstay at WDW for years.
Take time to just check out WL and VWl cause there is so much to see. Lots of hidden Mickeys.

Most of all, Have Fun!!

Thanks for the posts! I do know about the boating plan. We used it last year and it worked out great (though we were there for 12 nights as opposed to our scheduled 5 nights this year).

I think I'll call MS and re-request my room location. I think all I had asked for was non-smoking and higher floor. But I think I'll add lake/pool view to the list. Better call today...not much time left (YIPPIE!).

I'll have to ask about the Flag Family. I think my kids would get a kick out of that. Of course the two oldest (DH & myself) would absolutely love it!!!

I've seen the EWP so many times, but nothing will top the view we had last year on the FITS boating excursion! That was amazing!

Thanks again...btw Mrs. Snowgod...where is Andover? We are in Pelham (on the border of MA).

Andover is about 20 miles NW of Concord... From exit 17 off 93, its on the way to New London.

Yes... folks down your way often think we're talking about Andover, MA. I'm familiar with Pelham; worked in Salem for awhile (fortunately not long, as it was quite a commute!).

Sounds like you are all set with your plans for VWL... we'll be there soon after. Just can't wait!

Have a great trip!
