We had the dumpster view studio last October at VWL. The very last room on the third floor, but I believe it was a bigger studio than most because it was an end room - quite spacious actually. And like previous posters have said, you can see woods and the main lodge also. I actually think the dumpster view at the VWL is a whole lot better than the dumpster views at the main lodge.
Our last trip to Disney in May we stayed five nights in a one bedroom at VWL and then we switched over to the main lodge for the weekend in a regular room on the wing that is closest to the boat launch. They upgraded us to Courtyard view, but I happened to take a peak out a window on the other side of the hallway going back to our Courtyard view room and man oh, man, I saw a whole line of dumpsters and service vehicles on that side of the main lodge. I'll never say anything else about the VWL dumpster view again. The VWL dumpster view is just a teeny baby dumpster compared to what you could get at the main lodge. The only studio at VWL I think I would have a fit over again would be 4533 (the lockoff studio that has no balcony - it felt too closed in with no balcony). I definitely think they should charge less points for 4533 - I believe our member book shows either a patio or a balcony. They definitely need to compensate for that studio!
I also don't think the walk to the end rooms at VWL are as long as the Boardwalk hallways. I think the tennis court view at Boardwalk has got to be the longest hallway I've ever seen to get back to an elevator.
